What are the signs/symptoms of a slipped band?

Recommended Posts

I am having problems this week. To start off with I think my fill was really too tight. I had a miserable time of it until I got back to the docs the following day and had .5cc's removed. I felt like it was okay, but I'm still having problems, not as bad before the fill was emptied a bit but still not right. I can only get room temperature tea or Water down, anything I try to eat or drink otherwise comes right back up.

Does anyone out there know about a slipped band and how to tell if you have one or not?

Thank you

Cindy

Warm Water seems to open me up but cold water or cold beverages seems to tighten me, that is pretty much the norm for alot of us, How is it when you eat solids? Are you able to keep it all down, one sign of slippage I was told by my Dr. was that whatever you eat or drink will come back up instantly, not being able to keep anything down. vomiting

sometimes there are no symptoms; sometimes reflux is a symptom. i had a slip. it sounds too me like you're just too tight...some people only need tiny, tiny adjustments each time...

Cindy,

I had slippage 10 months out from my first band, I could eat anything fine, my only symptom was extreme gastric reflux but only at night when I laid down. I never felt anything different and was able to eat anything. So slippage has pretty much no symptoms on some folks. I will pray you are just too tight and that an unfill will fix you right up. Take care.

Cindy-please, please, please get your band checked for slippage. You may just be way too tight. I wish I had gotten mine checked. I don't know if that is why I lost my band or because of the stomach virus I had (that kept me throwing up violently...others without a band had it so I know it was not just my band) did it or a combination of the two.

Not being able to eat is not normal.

Take care.

Thanks everyone, I appreciate the information. I talked to the nurse at the docs office today and she thinks I have severly irritated my stomach and the stoma sight, location of the band. She said that if those areas are inflammed, that could explain why it is so difficult for me to eat anything solid.

I appreciate all of the helpful advise, like trying more hot liquids. I did have some of the fill removed the day after the initial fill .5cc's taken out. Each day seems to be getting better, but I'm still having trouble swallowing solids or even mushies.

I have an appoinment now for an upper GI next week, so hopefully, this will answer all of my questions. I hope there is nothing seriously wrong with the band, if I loose the band I will be forced into RNY and I really have an issue with that.

Thank you all for your help, it is truly appreciated.

Cindy

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
