May Exercise Challenge

Recommended Posts

Okay, back from the gym. I did a 1:05 spin class geared to road cyclists.

Then I sat in the jacuzzi and finished my Protein drink. Then I swam some laps for 20 min. (I'm guessing it was about half a mile).

Then I ran for 35 min. The first part of that was recalibrating my Nike+ and warming-up and the last part was a cool-down. In between I ran 2 miles at "tempo" pace. Which was 5.5 for the first 1.5 miles and 5.9 for the last .5. I've NEVER run that fast before so I was very happy.

yesterday - spin class/upper body weight training with DH, then after lunch went for a bike ride around the lake, very leisurely

today - spin class/11 holes of golf before it started to rain

tomorrow - weather dependent, i'd like to ride our bikes around the lake twice (37miles) .. but it's up to the rain. otherwise, back at another spin class & weight training.

Saturday afternoon I hit the golf range for a bucket of balls. First time this year I've had the clubs out. Late last year a friend of mine gave me a pointer to try to fix my wicked slice (seriously, thing needed a turn signal most of the time:biggrin:). Worked last year, but I was afraid it might have been a fluke. Not so:thumbup:. I was hitting some BOMBS off the driver after warming up.

Yesterday, I tried to run running in the p.m. I tried the 3.6 mile loop bossman showed me a couple weeks ago that I struggled with, but tried a week later w/o any problems. Struggled again yesterday. I've come up with a theory. If I have eaten at any time during the day, I cannot run. I think my pouch is so close to my diaphragm when it has food in it and does not allow me to breath deep enough to run. I may be wrong though and it is just in my head:out: I ended up with a total of running 2.5 miles of the 3.6.

This morning, I hit the gym for upper body circuit training. I am working a double, so nothing else today. I'll get back to it tomorrow.

Well no outside walking for me it's raining. I guess I'll workout with a DVD at home. :-(

I did not do my DVD at home and the weather sucks today too. I hate that I can't use the gym on base anymore.

I just started the couch to 5k on Tuesday. As it turns out I'm not even ready for the starting point they give but I'm working up to it. I walked for 10 minutes my first day and did .4 mile for almost 20 min yesterday. Tomorrow I will walk for 20 min. Next week I'll start jogging.

My goal is to get to walk a 5k in three weeks but I'm not sure if that's realistic. I figure I'll at least walk as far as I can-- maybe a "special k". LOL!

Has anyone here started off this bad? Is it easier to walk or alternate walking and jogging? I'm 330lbs and it hurts just to walk for 5 min straight. This is a big deal for me.

Thank you! I needed that. I walked .5 mile this morning and it kicked my butt! It was easier on Thursday and I hurt more today. This may be harder than I thought but I'm still going.

Good job on your exercise! An inspiration. I love the variety.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
