pcos and lap band weight loss

I have polycystic ovarian disorder and haven't cycled in over 12 years, had the lap band on November 25, 2008 and have lost quite a little bit of weight now. Today after all this time I started my cycle, I'm a little freaked out, has anyone else here went through this, my doctor said with the hormones straightening out after the weight loss and all that it could happen, just didn't expect it yet.

It happened to my friend who was banded two weeks before me. She has pcos, and after she was almost 4 months post op and down 40 lbs, she started ovulating and became pregnant without knowing!!!! She had two previous pregnancies using fertility drugs and her twins were only 9 months old when she found out she was pregnant again. Soooooo, yes, it can happen once you have lost some weight.

Your doc is right. I too have PCOS and Diabetes. Everytime I would diet throughout my life, I'd get my period. Don't freak out. Be thrilled that your body is working!

That's pretty common. I also have PCOS and I started cycling within a few months of having surgery and got pregnant at 7 months post-op (big surprise, we'd needed fertility drugs in the past).

I have PCOS, would go 3+ months between cycles. I have been TTC, 4 rounds of injections no luck. Am THRILLED that after surgery on 2/3/09, I have had 2 cycles; 31 days apart. Fingers crossed next month brings baby dust the natural way!!!!! CONGRATS and do not freak out...you are getting back to normal in terms of hormone function!

I have pcos and losing the weight has sooo helped I am still on Metfromin was hoping to stop but would like to get pregnant! I am sooo happy to hear it has happen for you ladies!! gives me hope!!!
