Anyone else NOT a fitness overachiever?!

I don't run like Forrest Gump; can't ride a bike like Lance Armstrong; and have no desire to swim like Michael Phelps!

I've read threads on here from people running marathons, and doing triathalons, and just being super athletes, but it's kind of intimidating to me! Don't get me wrong, I think it's great that these people are so passionate about their sport. So, I thought I'd start a thread for those of us who work out to be healthier, but don't necessarily want to be the next fitness rock star! Feel free to jump in with comments.

I work out 3-5 days a week for about an hour each time. I try to make it 5 days, but sometimes life gets in the way. It would be great to keep tabs on each other and hold each other accountable to get to the gym!

Surely I'm not the only one who feels this way, so I hope some of you will join in and post your program!

Erykah,

When were you banded? How much have you lost so far?

Hi JuneAct2! I haven't been banded yet, I'm going for my seminar next Wednesday 23rd, then off to my initial dr visit on October 2nd. . I exercise like a devil (with griping) because I have to, I hate hurting in my back (I'm 6'0 tall and weigh 330) and legs. . .it helps my heart too. . .I'm nervous about getting the surgery but I know it'll help me alot (I hope) :mad2:

Hi Erykah,

My highest known weight was 338 and I'm 5 5, or maybe 6. I can feel differences at 7 months out, and I commend you, even though you gripe (I do too, and I'm sure we're not the only ones!) You're already ahead of the game because you're exercising. I've found it easier to move since I've been banded. I don't like exercising any more than before though! :)

  • 8 months later...

Hi all,

It's been nine months since anyone posted here, and I'm just wondering how everyone is doing.

I'm on vacation this week. I've been on the treadmill every day, and done my weight resistance training, but I really don't like exercising. Yes, I feel good after I've done it; yes, I've lost a couple of pounds, but that doesn't make it easier. Can anyone relate?

I just wanted to see if any of my fellow not overachievers are still out there!

Debbie

Hi Debbie!

Still here, barely. And still NOT an achiever! LOL!

Glad you checked in. Great job on the exercising. I know it's hard.
