Help with insurance! And the required physican guided before hand

The insurance people called me today and told me that my insurance required I do a physican guided weightloss or have done a physican guided weight loss. Well I have been to everyone under the sun. LA weight loss, Weight watchers, Beverly hills weight loss. LA weight loss became pure weight loss then shut down that was my most recent attempt and I can't get my records from that anymore. Was there anyone who had a way around that or got a physican to sign off or used another doc. Anything that would help me get them proof that I have tried all of those things?????? Any ideas welcome!

I believe that the physician guided weight loss may have to be within 12 months of trying to get surgery, and be for 6 consecutive months. Did you're insurance company specify this? If you have been in a weight loss program that is guided by nutritionists who monitor your weight every month and document it, then that may work. Do you have a surgery center or surgeon? They should be able to help.

My insurance also required the 6 months. However, what (Cigna) required was seeing the SAME doctor and being weighed every month. I could do WW or any type of diet, but it was through my physician that we decided which one I wold adhere to for the 6 months.

Just going to WW meetings or doing Atkins at home isn't going to get your insurance approval. You have to have doctor's proof that you've been working with THEM.
