Hello everyone,

My name is Doug and I will be having my lap band surgery on May 1st. I have been lurking and reading postings and thought it was time to introduce myself. This forum has been a life line. Everytime I had doubts about my decision to get banded, I would just come here and read your storys to reafirm that what I'm about to do is the correct thing for me.

Welcome Doug! I'm not your in your neighborhood right now but will be in the future. Bought some land outside of the little town of Bunn on Lake Royale a year ago. I was banded on March 23rd so just a few weeks into program. Have a year of coverage with my physician here in Texas so not moving until that year is up. Wishing you the best in your journey.

Jules

Hi Doug - I used to live in Morrisville a fews years back, I am now in Fuquay, not too far. Being banded has been the best thing I have done for myself. There are times I struggle with it but a lot of difficult things -the view is definitely worth the climb:smile:

Good Luck with your weight loss journey!

Hey Doug!

I hope your banding went well. I'm in Wendell, just outside of Raleigh. I'm hoping to have my banding in the next few months. Keep us up to date on how you're doing.

Thanks Chad. Everyone day it gets a little easier. Last night I did begin to get some hunger pains. The thought of clear broth gives me nausea, so I took a fellow poster's advice and bought some regular chicken and vegetable Soup and strained out all the solids. Boy did that help with the hunger sensations. There are so many different post op diets guides from very reputable organizations. My doctor wants a totally clear liquid diet for the first week followed by a full liquid diet the following week. The vast majority of post op diets just require full liquid for 2 weeks post op with many only advising Clear Liquids for the first couple of days. I think I may add a Protein Shake or no sugar added carnation instant Breakfast drink to my diet now. I feel like I am running out of energy just on clear liquids.

Where are you going to nursing school? I have been a nurse for over 10 years and have loved every year of it. I was in the military right out of high school and then spent 10 years working on Capitol Hill in DC. Becoming a nurse was the best career move ever. I received my BSN and Masters in Health Systems Administration from George Mason University in Northern Virginia. I currently work as the associate executive director and licensed nursing home administrator for a large retirement community here in NC. I love geriatrics.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
