I have severe issues with hospitals, needles, etc. I have been "knocked out" when my wisdom teeth were pulled and when I had shots in my back. BOTH times I remember what happened. I know that general anestesia is different but I still have a phobia that I will remember the surgery. My surgery date is April 24, 2009 and the closer it gets the more anxiety I get...any suggestions?

When I went in for my surgery they actually used a tiny needle to numb my arm for the IV. Next thing I remember I was waking up and it was over. I stayed overnight because my insurance required it but I could have gone home that day. I felt fine and was up walking the halls a few hours after surgery.

Honestly, I too was scared and there are posts on here from me that sound a lot like yours.

The five small incisions realy never bothered me and probably the worst pain was 2 days later in my shoulders, This is from the CO2 that they use to pump you up with. My doctor gave me some really good pain meds that took care of that.

I asked the doctor's office if they could give me a valium to take to get me there the morning of my surgery but she said no because I have to be nonmedicated when I sign the waivers for surgery. Makes sense but did not help my nerves any. I hope you are right and we can come back and laugh at this. I am seriously nervous about the procedure but do appreciate your encouragement.
