Bunny Bandsters - April '09, MASTER THREAD #1

JayTee, how are you doing since you had some unfill? I actually called today to make appt for next week to have a bit of unfill, I cannot hardly eat anything without it coming back up.:tt1:

I'm kind of dreading it. I think I lasted through the worst part of the fill so by the time I got my unfill I had adjusted to it and it was like a normal fill...if any of that makes sense.

I'm able to eat bread and I haven't been able to eat Bread for about 6 months when I knew I couldn't eat it I didn't miss it, I've had bread 3 times this week.

I was thinking that if I had some unfill, that I could at least enjoy eating a bit of chicken or beef, without throwing up. I lean towards the mushies, and I know we shouldn't do that. I haven't eaten any bread since I had the lapband last April. Hope you do well this week.

Band Groupie--What were the issues that you need to have your gallbladder out?

Hey all! Back from my weekend for surgery tomorrow.

Question-I had some right flank and lower right pain and after a day of this took a laxative (wasn't constipated, but I was guessing it was intestinal) and the pain was so bad I couldn't move. Saw my PCP (by then I was fine) and she sent me in for an ultrasound (at least a dozen stones). My surgeon told me the gallbladder can cause pain in other areas like I had (not always right ribs/shoulder blade pain). Stones in the GB are common after a big WL.

See you after surgery!

Thanks JT! All went well. In a lot of pain...wasn't expecting this, but it's been worse than the LB...maybe because it was a single incision procedure...I'm sure I'll turn the corner soon.

Oh, and I left you all a Bandiversary card HERE.

hello all! it's been a REALLY long time since i've been online here to check in. i'm glad to see so many people are doing SO well and most have even met their goals! <3

i will be celebrating my one year on the 14th -- one week away!! i'm trying SUPER hard to lose at least nine more pounds in that week because then i will have lost 160 in a year, which is what my mother lost in a year with her gastric bypass.

i still have about 25% of my journey left, and i'm already looking into reconstructive surgeries... any thoughts?

Fantastic WL Jess!

and Jersey...there's just something about reaching that 100 lbs. isn't there? I'd love to get there even if it's only for a day just so I can say those words '100 lb. loss'.

I've got some exciting news on today's blog (link below) details there...I'm writing a LB book (or trying to).

Hey all - Don't post much on the Bunny site but always keep up with the comments posted. Tomorrow will be my 1 yr bandiversary and if I go by my scale - I have lost 92 lbs as of today. The last 2 months have been at pretty much a standstill, but I have 10 lbs to go to reach goal. I haven't been my current weight since high school - 28 years ago. Feeling great, much more active, no more knee and back pain. I just feel like I got my life back after so many years. Can't say I make the best food choices 100% of the time, but I eat alot healthier than I did before and my hubby and I are consistently exercising which is quite a change for us.

It's our month ladies and gentlemen. It's time to Celebrate and do something good for yourself! I hope you all are doing well and are enjoying your success!

I am so thankful for this surgery as it has given me confidence that this weight will stay off and that I have so much more control over my habits and eating. The weight has been lifted - LITERALLY!

My last fill must have put me over the top. I have been so miserable for 3 weeks now. Seems like everything gets stuck. Even sometimes when I try to east soft foods like refried Beans with taco meat It feels like it stuck or I throw up. I like that I can't eat much but the funny thing is that I still haven't lost that much weight considering the amount of food I eat. I guess my son is right he's always telling me to excerise. Going to the doctor Tues for a slight unfill. Hopefully he does not take out to much. I really don't want to get some taken out and then end up paying for another fill.

Today is my Bandiversary! I posted my first vlog (link to my blog below if you want to see it). I was hoping to get to 100 pounds, but I'll take 96 as of this morning (it will give me something to work on year 2 LOL)!

What a year this has been! I can't believe how many changes my Band has brought to my life!

Congrats, BG. Good Job. I'm leaving for Texas in the AM.

I really wanted to be at 100 off by the time my friends see me. Maybe I'll have a really good week and lose 4 by next Saturday. Everyone cross your fingers please.

I'll let you all know how I bowl.

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
