When did you go home after surgery?

Recommended Posts

After your surgery, when did you go home? That day? The next? I am getting mixed messages from various sources.

My surgery was at 8:30 AM and I was on my way home shortly after 12 noon. I paid for my own surgery, so there were no insurance mandates that I stay overnight. I took some of the pain meds they gave me when I got home and slept like a baby....no problems at all.

I am diabetic and have high blood pressure. I stay overnight. I would have had to stay overnight even if I didnt have other health issues.

I ended up staying 2 nights d/t nausea issues which resulted in pain control issues (i did not want to take the pain med when nauseous). But I was happy I stayed.

Hi,

I had surgery at 7:30 a.m. and was able to go home at 10:00 a.m. but my ride was late. So I had to sit around for an hour....11 a.m. out of hospital and was home at 12 noon. Quick, fast, and little pain or gas. Dr. Benavides is a master.

Regards,

Ikerry:thumbup:

I had surgery at around 10am and was discharged around 6pm. They weren't sure they were going to let me go home the same day because I was having a lot of pain but I ended up pulling it together, walking around, going to the bathroom by myself, all the things they wanted to make sure I could do before they let me leave.

I didn't have any complications but I completely understand why a lot of patients need that overnight stay. I almost did.

I went back to work 2 weeks after surgery. I am a nurse so I have a very physical job. My first night back (12 hour shift) I was sore but after that it has not been that bad... tonight is my 3rd shift back since surgery.

I stayed overnight and I'm glad I did - no way could I have gotten any rest at home! I went back to my desk job in a week but had pain in the port area for about three weeks after surgery.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
