Obamanomics: Bad for the economy...

Recommended Posts

beth - really; you got gang mentality going on & it's distracting whether you agree or not - it is.

How can I be a gang of one? I could see if I was jumping on some bandwagon or something, but really...

Lulu, this person has spent the last week or so calling names to those few of us who simply disagree with her. I listed them last night. She asked questions that, when answered with factual arguments, she then responded that she "didn't read them because they were long-winded," and to plain she said she didn't read his because he spun and dodged.

She said flat out that when we were being FOX news-ish or Rush Limbaugh-ish in our responses, believing that we can't actually think for ourselves, she was going to call us on it. I decided that was a great tactic and chose to do the same thing when she spewed her personal grudges, namecalling, and BS. I'm not sure why her behavior is fine but mine is somehow a gang mentality.

I understand she can't fight this battle because she is disingenuous at best. But she has acted throughout as if she has taken the high road, and all she has chosen to do is sling the same mud that the left-wing do.

It's one thing to be a liberal. There's no harm there. However, the crap she espouses -- then ducks from when met with facts -- well, that's just bullshit no matter how you want to believe I am handling myself in this thread.

She doesn't get to determine the rules of how this is played. If she dishes it, she's going to likely get it right back. She has chosen to take this route rather than debate civilly, so she has been met with responses that she obviously can't handle.

I'm not asking anybody to agree with me here, Lulu. I don't even expect you or her to agree, and that is fine. But when one slings the kind of bullshit that she does here while lobbing personal attacks on people because she can't fight a good fight, then she deserves whatever she gets -- whether you agree or not.

And nothing personal at ALL towards you, but she can fight her own battles. Kinda.

would love it - throwing up in my mouth is not band friendly.

LOL, too funny.

While I have some very strong feelings and opinions on what PG wrote, I chose not to go down those rabbit trails because these are NOT religion threads and I didn't want to add to that.

I'm here for you BJean, I'm just not a debater. Nancy

And are debit cards mentioned in the Bible????

No. That was only a thought I had about it.

It's easy to blame G. Bush for everything. But this financial crisis did not begin with him. It was spawned under Bill Clinton, when banks were forced to give mortgages to those who could not (and never would) make the payments. Obama is a socialist who is inexperienced for the job he has managed to snag. He has 'sucked up' to Iran, a grave threat to Europe and the U.S. He tried to play footsie with Russia behind the backs of our European allies, and the Russians made the fact public and sneered at us. He has offended our closest allie, Great Britain, by his less than cordial reception of Prime Minister Gordon Brown and by sending back the bust of W. Churchill to the British Embassy. I don't think the gift he gave the Queen was appropriate. And didn't anyone que them in on proper edicate before they got there? You are not supposed to touch the Queen.

Hi Guys and Gals,

I just spent some time reading this thread, and it has become quite volatile. In as much, I am going to remind EVERYONE participating in this thread that even though it is R&R and debates get heated, we need to attack the idea and not the person.

If you wish to continue bickering and attacking each other, take that to PM. If you want to talk about God, take that to the God thread. If you want to talk about politics, Obama and politically related items, then do it here. But do it in an intellectual and adult manner.

If any of you have a problem with that, I will be happy to put on my admin hat and start issuing infractions and temporary bans if necessary to further enforce my point.

Thank you. You may now return to debating politics and attacking IDEAS.

Well Susan I decided not to whine about it, I just flung it right back and I gotta confess that although it felt pretty good, it was inappropriate and - my bad. I try really hard not to allow someone to push my buttons but since it went on way too long, I allowed it to happen. Glad you popped in. The voice of reason, at last.

Plain when I get some time I will try to go back through some old threads and pull some of the items I was speaking of. Jack is an expert at it and perhaps I was attributing some of his to you.

I'm sort of a hit and run gal. I just don't have a lot of time to play on this thing. But when I read posts that are completely outrageous I feel compelled to jump in. I really should have given it up for Lent.

Luluc anytime you can help me out it is majorly appreciated. I hope I can rescue you sometime. Sometimes it sure feels like there's some piling on happenin' ya know?

patty you do realize that for most of Bill Clinton's terms the Republicans were the dominate party in Congress, right?

And why weren't you bellyaching when George Bush insulted people both here and abroad? What did you think when he was caught on camera chewing with his mouth wide open and saying "shit" to the British Prime Minister? You didn't find that insulting and inappropriate? Were you proud of the way he represented our country on the night he used the term "shock and awe" when he dropped bombs on a country that we were not at war with? Wonder why he didn't just use the term "death and carnage"? Not as catchy?

I have no quarrel with you criticizing President Obama if you think he was inappropriate for giving the Queen an IPod, but don't you think that maybe the Queen has plenty of crystal and silver treasures cluttering all the castles by now? And did you know (no you don't because you don't watch the real news) that the Queen opened the door for Mrs. Obama to touch her? The Queen as well as the Prince seemed to be quite taken with the President and First Lady.

Bush was not an impressive President when he visited foreign countries. President Obama is, whether you agree with his politics or not.

I think you'll find I don't dodge.

Unfortunately, I don't have much of a life, so I'm able to obsessively scour LBT. Yay me!

Don't forget my favorite.....Bush Sr. puking on the prime minister of Japan. Totally Animal House!!

Were you proud of the way he represented our country on the night he used the term "shock and awe" when he dropped bombs on a country that we were not at war with?

*record scratch* Wait!! Congress authorized Bush to use military force "at any time and in any way he sees fit" on October 11 2002. The bombing didn't start until March 19 2003. So to recap....congress approved, Bush followed through. It wasn't like he invaded within 10 minutes of congressional approval.

Wonder why he didn't just use the term "death and carnage"? Not as catchy?

Except....Bush didn't coin the term "shock and awe". A dude named Harlan Ullman coined that military philosophy way back in 1996. Who was president in '96?

President Obama is, whether you agree with his politics or not.

I agree with you here. Foreign countries seem to loves them some Obama. Too bad they don't love him enough to commit to his economic plan, or to his plan to fight terrorism. But hey! At least now we're at the diplomatic table with Iran! Yesssssssss.......

I'm not saying that Bush was 'The man'. Why is it that everytime someone comments on what Obama is doing right now, they go back to what Bush did back then. We can't change the past mistakes on any presidents part whether dem or rep. So, As pres. Obama takes our government into the automoblie business, the mortgage and banking business, the healthcare business, the energy business and the environmental planning business, he is working on a basic premis that we'll be better off if we turn more of our lives and resources over to gov. bureaucrats to manage. Not only has this been tried many times (social security) but it has failed every time. There was a learning oportunity with social security that was missed by our government. The social engineering made sence when Roosevelt was in office because the country had 40 people working per 1 retired person back then. Now it's 3-1.The problem is the world constantly changes, but gov.programs don't. Other gov. conceived and managed dinosaurs, medicare and medicaid, are in even worse shape. Reinventing America by bringing government management to our auto, banking, energy and health care industries? You might like this idea if you ignore all the past experiences!

I read the letters to the editors every day in the newspaper. I read 2-3 letters that are written by people who are just flabergasted by Obama's decision making and spending every day. There is NEVER any letters talking about all the good he is doing since his election. I believe it is hard for those who voted for him to see that he is making some dumb moves, and they themselves probably can't believe that this is what he meant by 'Change'.

Obama essentially fired an executive of a private corp. Isn't that a new interpretation of the commander in chief? How is that defending the constitution? If he believes the constitution is irrelevent why did he take the oath of office? He said clearly before he was elected that the constitution was outdated and irrelevent. I can't find anywhere in our constitution where it says our gov. owes us a job, income, homes and healthcare. It guarantees us only the pursuit of happiness. No where does it say that one group of citizens should take care of any other group by force from the gov. Our founding Fathers saw enough of that in Europe and they made sure to protect us from that form of dictatorship. Besides freedom of religion, people were attracted to this country for their right to own private property. This was unheard of in Europe. It's the foundation of capitalism. Some say, "The very wealthy have not been made to do their part by having some of their largess taken from them to contribute to the well being of all." I translate that, "The very wealthy have not been FORCED to do their part by having some of their private property STOLEN from them for the well being of all." People should be able to give to the charitys of their choice. I'm not just saying this because I may be effected, cause I won't be. We are not a very wealthy family. I say it out of fairness for all people dispite the amount of income they have.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
