:) Hey everyone,

Today is my first post however I've been lurking for quite some time. I have been approved but I probably want have surgery until May (my choice). I have mixed emotions about this but I think that is the norm. Just want to say hello and wish me well on my decision.

Congrats on starting the process to be banded. It is the best thing I ever did for myself. I also had cold feet but as soon as I started to see that scale go down I never regretted it. I hope everything works out well, and this site is great if you are looking for support.

hi Deb & welcome, its the best thing i did too, dont regret a thing, its great seeing the weight come off, though you do have to work with it, remember its a tool & not a magic wand, but work hard & the results will pay off

I also had mixed emotions in the beginning, but I don't regret a thing about it now. It is the best decision I ever made.

Good luck with everything! Just curious, why did you chose May as "the month?"

My son is in school (laid off work) and my daughter-in-law works full-time and I keep my granddaugher (9 months) part-time and she would be over my weight limit. So my son will be out for the summer for about a month and I think it will work out better for me because I'm also going to have a hernia repair so I probably will be on a weight limit for a least a month I guess. I was really hoping to have it done in March during AEA but that is only a week and she weights about 18 lbs and not walking either so their is know way around not lifting her.

Sorry the reply was so long.

Naynay2,

I had mixed emotions too. I would go from being excited to talking myself out of it altogether. The best thing I did was use this website as a tool. I read postings on the topics I was most concerned about and made my decision to go ahead with my procedure in May. The thread that has personally helped me the most was the "share ideas, what did you have to eat today" posts. It helped me realize that you can still actually eat foods you love, just modified into healthier versions and much less of it, which I was fine with. Many of us have restricted ourselves so much more in our past efforts to lose weight difference is, this time we have the right tool in place to accomplish it..! Good luck on whatever you decide to do! God bless

That makes perfect sense and is a good reason. 18 pounds is a lot to be picking up right after surgery and there is no way around it at 9 months in age. :0)

A two month delay isn't really going to make a difference in the long run. This is a change for a lifetime and 2 months is next to nothing when you look at the years of healthier living ahead.

Not to mention you might need all the extra energy you will have after losing weight once your grandbaby starts running amuck, lol.

Thanks everyone for your encouragement.

I'm pretty sure I"ll have the surgery unless the good Lord has a different plan. Thanks again.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
