NewBeginnings I have the same issue with eating to much or too fast on the food. Even Jello gives me a bad feeling if I eat like that. This may sound odd, but as suggested on one of these strings. I bought an appetizer plate, fork and spoon which makes me eat a small portion and since the fork and spoon are small I can only take small bites. I have to retrain myself since I use to eat fast and too much. Now I am losing weight I am only going to update my ticker each month when I go to group and get an official weight. But I am down about 25 pounds since surgery.

Thanks, it is amazing how I know what to do and still do the wrong things. I am sure that is what got me into the weight situation that I am in at this time.

My daughter is a Junior in college and I am using her baby spoon and fork. I need to make sure that I am using all the time and just need to slow down.

Your are lucky that you have a support group, I have been trying to find one in my area, but haven't found one as of yet. My surgeon is not local and that is the only support group I have been able to find. Wish we were all in the same area and could have our own support group.

Are most of you still not losing or have you started back losing. I

lost another 2lbs since starting with meat a week ago. My first fill in on May 6th. I hope I can make it.

aimtowin, I can only say that I am losing everyday. But I eat next to nothing, only Protein and only one meal a day, then 1-2 Protein Shakes and some protein Water. Everyone is different so it may take a while for your loss to begin.

I have started to get a little annoyed at this plateau...I have stayed the same for what seems like forever. I have not been cheating either, thats what really sucks. I have been eating all low fat or no fat foods, I sure wish that I would start losing again.

Good luck everyone!!

Fab by 50, Think about it, if you are doing what you are suppose to do then the weight will come off. Don't worry about what the scales say today, it is the long term results that you are looking for. Hang in there, you did this for a reason and the results will come.

Hi y'all! Just found this thread today. I also had my lapband done on 16mar09 in Round Rock, Texas. I started a 2 wk pre-op diet of 30 grams of carbs or less and lost 12#. It is interexting to note the differences between physicians on pre and post op diets. Post-op I was on Clear Liquids for a couple of days and then liquids for the rest of 2 wks post op. I am currently eating soft foods and get my first fill tomorrow 9apr09. I am a little nervous. I have lost 23.5# since starting pre-op diet but have also plateaued. glad to hear that this lapband hell before first fill is normal. I had bilateral shoulder pain after surgery and went for a deep tissue massage in sidelaying which greatly helped my shoulder pain.

Will post again after first fill.

Hey 16thers

Gregnir, I just get a little frustrated about the weight not coming off quicker. My mind tells me just relax it will come off, but the scale is not helping. I have put it away and decided to only weight once a week. I know that Im losing inches because all of my clothes are loose. I just need to be patient!!!

When is everyone getting their first fill?? I can't wait to get mine, so I will have more restriction.

Good luck!!

Hi all~

I am a march 2 banster... but was reading your thread and feel your frustration. During the week I switched to solids I gained 3 lbs although I was eating only what I was supposed to and didn't go over 800 calories! I am also working out with a trainer three times a week. Now, this week, that 3 lbs finally came off and am back to the 25 lbs lost total since surgery. (35 since I scheduled surgery). I had my first fill on 4-7. I wrote about it on another thread. http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f84/calling-all-march-09-bandsters-we-need-name-86511/index51.html But am basically bummed that I have no restriction yet. Now granted I haven't "tested" it with really large amounts. I am talking that instead of exactly 1/2 cup I had another 1/4 of butternut squash last night just to see. nada. The seroma I have around my port is bugging me. Although it was drained.. it has filled back up and is now tender. I was supposed to go back two weeks after 1st fill, but I think I am going to call and see if I can go earlier to have one... and have this seroma drained. SIGH.

Is everyone prepared for Easter? I have a 5 year old boy who can't wait for the Easter Bunny to visit! I think the bunny will give more toys than chocolate this year. : )

peas out,

Laura

Hi to all. I got 5cc for my first fill in my 10cc band. I was nervous about it but it has turned out fine. The surgeon was only going to put in 4cc but he found alot of air in my band and said I already had some restriction. His surgery group always starts with the band as empty as possible. Because of this being the holiday week-end, my doc had me drink 3 glasses of Water to make sure there was not too much restriction. I was very burpy with the first one but fine by the 3rd cup. I had some soreness from the fill so took some liquid motrin and that went away. I did not notice any soreness after surgery because I had a hiatal hernia repaired so my diaphragm was very sore. I had liquids the day of the fill, soft food this AM and I'm supposed to eat solids tonight but am too tired after work. I can go back in 4 weeks for another fill if I feel I need one or if I am losing weight fine can then I can wait 8 weeks to go back. One of the men at my church had a lapband done and he has lost 144# and only 20# more to go. He stated any time the doctor offers a fill you should take it. I believe everyone is different and that as long as you are loosing weight and following your surgeons guidelines you are doing fine. My surgeon is happy with 1-2# of wt loss per week but I am not that patient. Good luck to all and Happy Easter.

Thanks for the information about the 1st fill, I hope that everthing is still going good for you this morning and that it will be as easy for all the rest of us.

The liquid motrin that you are taking, is that just the child's motrin or did you find some adult that is liquid?

Wow, that's a pretty aggressive first fill. I wish I could get that much on my first time, but I know it won't happen!

My surgeon will only give 1cc at a time. He said that there is a little already in my band that he puts in at surgery. So, I'm guessing maybe 1cc is already in there?

Anyway, good luck to you - I hope you're already feeling some restriction!

Happy Easter!

Good morning! Yes I am feeling restriction but no pain:) My doctor had recommended children's liquid tylenol but the taste made me almost gag, worse than crushing my regular pills. I took childrens liquid motrin and took enough for 400mg., 4 teaspoons. I was reading on the forum that the tightness of your fill can feel tighter in the AM or increase in tightness over the next 2 weeks. That makes me a little nervous as I feel preety good restriction right now. I am going to keep a positive attitude that all will go well. Also weight loss has started again and I have lost another pound.

Happy easter to all!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
