I am still here Fab by 50, looks like you are doing well, I took a vacation from my band but am now back on track, I had a fill last week so I can take off my last 40-60 pounds. It is natural for the weight loss to slow down, but keep working the band and it will come off. Greg

Greg

So nice to see you are still out there, did you get a little tired of the band too?? I just felt like I needed a break and just maintained for awhile, I really need to get back to work tho. You did not say how much you are down, I know the last time I think you were at 70lbs lost. I hope all is well with you and I hope the rest of them pop in to say Hi too!!.

Take care, Bernadette

Not tired of the band, I am very pleased with my results, I am down about 90 pounds and hae added 20 more pounds to my original goal of 200 pounds and now want to get to 180, which I think I can do by year end, or at least my one year. I just slowed down on being so strict and bgin to add regular food to my diet some good and some not so good. I guess i wanted to see if I could have a normal life and yes I can, without gaining weight. But now I am back to the limited food and exercise as much as possible. I would love to look fab by Christmas. I did get a thrid fill as my second fill had lossened up most likely due to the weight loss. The band is my tool for life and I have had such a great summer as a smaller me.

I wish that I was doing better than I am. I am very happy with my wieght loss, just getting much slower now. I had my last fill 3 weeks ago and just this week finally made it to 3 pounds lost since my last fill.

I really don't feel my restriction when I 1st get a fill, I really didn't feel restriction until this week, makes it really hard to know when to schedule my fills, just when I think that I can't wait until my next appointment bang... my fills from weeks ago finally seem to start working.

But I am not complaining at least it is working. Weather getting cooler here, just got back from a walk with my hubby and my daughter is on her way home from college for the weekend. Hope that you all are doing good and staying motivated. Check in soon our group is getting smaller and smaller.

Hi New

I wish I were at your weight loss amount, I have been stuck at 40lbs. Not that I'm complaining I have not looked this good or felt this good in years!!! It is wonderful to be able to put on normal size clothes!!! I wear a medium top, can you believe it!!! I'm between a snug 12 or a loose 14 bottom I started at a TIGHT 18!!!!!! Life is good, but I still need to get back on the wagon and loose that last 25-30.

I know what you mean when you get a fill, I don't have restriction until usually a week or more. My last fill was harsh I got stuck alot and did alot of pb'ing and slimming. I don't have any problems with that now, but I'm not sure about anymore fills. I have 4cc's in a 4cc band, my fill place said they would do a floro and see if I could take a little more if I wanted it. I have put it off because I don't want to get stuck all the time again.

Take care, Bernadette

Bernadette: I have been very lucky so far with no having problems after my fills, I think that my Dr. is very conservative, I don't even know how much I have in my band, my Dr. doesn't want you hung up on a number. But I am happy with how things go.

When I look back the last 7 months have been easy when it comes to weight loss for me. Wasn't saying it at the time, but, I can say that now, since I have figured out how to get along with my band and it with me. I hope the rest of the weight will come off. If I lose 23 more pounds I will be so very happy. That is a weight that I haven't been at for so long and haven't ever been able to maintain. I was a size 24/26 or 3X and can now wear a size 16. Not to have to shop in the womens department is the best feeling! I would love to be where you are at clothes size wise, but look how much better we are than at the beginning of this journey.

I am so glad that we all decided to do this for us! I have a wedding tomorrow, for me I usually do better if I am away for home. I am way too worried to eat something that I shouldn't and feel bad and not be at home. Hopefully I will make good food choices.

Good luck to you this week!

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣
