I had my first fill 2/20 and it was 3cc in an 11cc band. This is not uncommon. Right now, I feel no restriction, so I haunt the forums, reading other peoples stories, knowing that if hundreds of others just like me can do this, so can I.

I had 2 cc's put into my 10 cc band at the time of my surgery. At my first fill, they took out the Fluid and there was 1.8 cc's (not sure where the other .2 went, but was told that is not uncommon). They added 1.3 cc's which put me up to 3.1 cc's. My second fill was was 1.5 cc's - total 4.6 cc's. I had no restriction after my surgery, none after my first fill, and none after my second fill. My third fill was 1.3 cc's - total 5.9 cc's and boy did that one give me restriction - LOTS of restriction. We are all different and our doctors are too - but your 3 cc's after first fill does not seem crazy or out of the norm to me. Some people feel restriction with that much and some don't. Hang in there - wait and see how that works for you. Good luck to you!!! Becky

i was banded on 12/10/08. my first fill was about 10 days ago and it was 3 cc as well. i did notice a difference in the first few days...and even now i stay full longer...but i feel that it takes more than it should to satisfy me at times and i may need another fill in the future.

i think 3cc is the standard on the first fill...they dont want to rush things to avoid obstuction and other complicaitons.

My 1st, 2nd, and 3rd fills were all 1.5 cc each, and no restriction at all with any of them. I finally felt a little with my 4th fill of 1 cc! I go back march 5 and think I'll maybe finally "feel the love". I sure hope so! :)

I am 14 months post -op. I had my 9th fill Tuesday, I beleive I have 8.5 or 9cc in a 10 cc. The reason for the difference in the fills are to give it time for your tummy wall/lining to thin out as you lose wt. So usually after a fill you may or may not have restriction, hopefully you will and it too will subside as time moveson. There is saline in the band when during surgery, but from the surgery video I saw, some will flow out freely prior to attaching to the port. So most drs are not sure exactly how much may be in your band. Your first fill should be under the Flouro xray.Your trickle through rate should be the size of a pencil, So as not to get you too tight. So as you lose more wt you just add more saline to make the band squeeze a little tighter to keep the wt loss steady if possible. Everyones tummy thickness is different and we all lose at a different pace. Dont rush things, just keep it steady. If you're not losing, ask for a fill. Remember the relaxation of the silicone in the band may take a few days after a fill to adjust, that's the reason for return to liquids and mushies for a few days each. Hang in there!!:)

Hi ML, I too had my surgery on 1/19/09 and did'nt lose anything until my first fill on 2/10/09 (3cc's) felt some restriction, and lost 5 lbs that week but nothing since! I was just wondering what you are eating on a typical day/ exercise?

I was banded on 1/20, and had my first fill of 2 ccs today. Not sure what I'll feel, since I can only do liquids for 24 hrs, but look forward to see whether it feels different than nothing in the band.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
