I've always had a hard time with the whole Bush bad economy thing. Because it seems to me that he took over in a recession, and when the republican house and senate were in office his first 6 years, we've never seen a better economy. More people became millionaires and billionaires in those 6 years then EVER in history. Then the last two years the democrats took over the house and senate and that is when we started to see a decline in the economy. And Bush left it much the way he found it, in a recession. Since BO took over and he's gone on his spending spree the rest of the country is scared to death and wont do anything so it will keep spiraling downward. I predict that this mess will still be going on come next election for senate in 2010 and that we will elect a republican house and senate, at which time we will see the economy start to turn. By that time however it will be too late for BO and any democrat and we will probably see a republican president in 2012, probably Mitt Romney or Ron Paul.

I was a Romney man from the get-go. At the risk of angering some people, I think Ron Paul is a nut (I KNOW I should back him since we are both basically libertarians....but damn.....he's TOO libertarian for me). Huckabee and Palin did ok in the straw polls at the CPAC conference, so you can't really count either of them out yet.

when Ron Paul, Huckabee and Romney were all still in it, that was the order they were on my list. Ron dropped out so he fell off the list, Huckabee dropped off the list when he said Mormons are not "REAL" Christians, which I find personally offensive since I am one. Romney dropped out. Notice that Romney was 3rd on my list, not 1st. Some believe Romney would automatically get the Mormon vote, but not true. I like his values, but don't always agree with his political decisions.

I voted, but could not bring myself to vote for either of the top 2.

And while he was still in office it went under 2 bucks. So What???!!! While he was in office and after 9/11 we didn't have any homeland attacks! Thanks to his wise homeland security decisions. Obama is lessening our support of military defense spending and putting the money into all kinds of Pork instead. You wait and see. You think we're safe from foreign attacks on our soil? Not if Obama continues on his path towards socialism!

I'm in total agreement with you. I'm hoping Huckabee will run again. Did you ever watch his show? I like it. He's right on.

It is amazing how democrats think that when you are in trouble financially, the answer is to get out your credit cards and start charging. Would you do that in your household? No. You'd cut back and get out of debt first. The only way to get out of a recession is to 'hurt' for a while. Yeah, not having the funds to go out to dinner every week, or to have to cancel cable for a year or so till you get out of debt 'hurts', but it needs to be done. I understand that some will go without work, but that's just the way it is. If I am having trouble paying my monthly bills, and I have a guy I pay mowing my lawn once a week, I may have to let him go. The gov. needs to fire some people. It's just getting too big. We have more programs and crap than we can pay for. To bring a country out of debt, you have to cut spending and leave taxes where they are. Same income coming in, less going out. We do it in our homes, we do it in our small business, big companies do it. Why can't local, state and federals manage their finances the way their supposed to?

I was going to post a long answer but figure why bother. If you really believe President moron ..I mean Bush was better there is no getting through to you. I bet you think Rush was right to say I hopes Obama he fails. I voted for Bush the first time and ended up hating him but never wanted him to fail. I had hoped he would be great. Sadly he put us in this mess. I have seen your posts before and you think you are funny being an agitator.

Oh and to answer your question.. not sorry yet.... (note to self ..dont read post by el diablo..)

What did Rush say? How bout we put that in the context that was there when he said it? Ok, Ok. He said that if Obama pushes a socialist agenda, then yes, he hopes he fails, because, wait for it, he hates socialism, NOT OBAMA!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Stop using this one little quote out of context and spreading it around, it's showing you are a partisan hack and nothing more. Tell me how the first 6 years under republican house and senate was bad for the economy, show me something, anything that backs that up? You can't. What you can show and the only thing you can show is the last 2 years of his presidency, in which he had a democratic house and senate, and believe it or not, they have just a little bit to do with what policy makes it too his desk.

The only thing I'm sorry about is that I voted for that worthless POS Bush the first time:cursing::) and was even suckered into believing his lies that got us into the sinkhole of a war in Iraq. Bush has been the single worst president and may have set our country and possibly the world into a downward spiral the likes of which we may not recover from for a generation or more. His economic and foreign policy were catastrophic and his blatant disregard for science have cost countless lives to be lost.

Obama is politician, so we know he is not perfect and he will certainly make mistakes along the way. I am extremely impressed with what has accomplished so far and am looking forward to his other ideas.

What ahs he accomplished??? My daughter was just sent (by orders of the current pres) to afighanistan where she just encountered her first mortar attack. I havent seen him do anything yet

Here is the actual transcript that all the lefties like to take out of context and use one little line from. So read it, learn what he ACTUALLY SAID and think about it, becuase I think he's pretty spot on. Everytime I find someone using that quote out of context I will come in and post the entire transcript so that the crazy left wing hacks here cannot use it out of context.

HANNITY: Coming off record-ratings year for you, but you are a passionate conservative. You've defined conservatives for many people in this country for years. He represents the antithesis in terms of his worldview. So then the question becomes: Do you want him to succeed?

RUSH: Now, this... (turns to camera) I am so glad that he asked me that question. (turns back to Hannity) I am so glad that you asked me this question.

HANNITY: I'm glad to. (chuckles)

RUSH: I'll tell you why. I am hearing many Republicans say that very thing. "Well, we want him to succeed," and prominent Republicans! "Yes, we want him to succeed." They have laid down. They have totally. They're drinking the Kool-Aid, too. They have no guts to stand up for what their beliefs are because they're afraid of criticism. They're afraid of being called racists. They're afraid of not having gotten with the program. Now success can be defined two ways. I said earlier, "I don't know about this guy." I really don't. I've got my suspicions and they're pretty close to convictions, but we're going to have to wait to see what he does. Now if he turns out to be a Reagan, if he adds Reagan to his recipe of FDR and Lincoln --

HANNITY: (laughing)

RUSH: -- and if he does cut some taxes --

HANNITY: Yeah.

RUSH: -- if he does not eliminate the Bush tax cuts, I would call that success. So yes, I would hope he would succeed if he acts like Reagan. But if he's going to do FDR -- if he's going to do The New New Deal all over, which we will call here The Raw Deal -- why would I want him to succeed? Look, he's my president. The fact that he is historic is irrelevant to me now. It matters not at all. If he is going to implement a far-left agenda... Look, I think it's already decided: a $2 trillion in stimulus? The growth of government? I think the intent here is to create as many dependent Americans as possible looking to government for their hope and salvation. If he gets nationalized health care, I mean, it's over, Sean. We're never going to roll that back. That's the end of America as we have known it, because that's then going to set the stage for everything being government owned, operated, or provided. Why would I want that to succeed? I don't believe in that. I know that's not how this country is going to be great in the future; it's not what made this country great. So I shamelessly say, "No! I want him to fail." If his agenda is a far-left collectivism -- some people say socialism -- as a conservative heartfelt, deeply, why would I want socialism to succeed?

Exactly! He wants socialism to fail! I agree with him there. We are in it up to our necks financially, and Obama thinks the answer is to SPEND more that we don't have. WHO thinks like that???!!!!

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
