2 Days out and in severe pain

Recommended Posts

i was just banded on 2/17 and I didn't realize how much pain I would be in. I have such and ache in my chest when I take a deep breath, my surgeon says it is just the band b/c it is tight right now, but I am in so much pain I don't know what to do.....Does anyone else have this pain I am having a hard timne tolerating this and am having some regrets...Please help!!!

I thought that "ache" was just soreness and gas. If I breathed deeply more than once or twice in a row it got better. SO I breathed deeply often (good for your lungs too) and by the end of the day it didn't hurt any more.

I guess you could say the band is tight, but more importantly it is tight because you are swollen inside from the surgery. That will go down pretty fast so try to be calm, take your pain meds, breathe deep because it IS good for you. Walking will help, too. Anything you can do to get you and your body "back to normal" will help you feel better faster!

I agree with restlessmonkey... try breathing deep breaths it does help & will get the lungs working properly, by doing this it stops any infections & coughing, so you need to open your lungs up as quick as possible & keep moving about, in a couple of days im sure you will feel a difference, If your that frightened call your doctor im sure they will tell you the same, good luck!

And remember your band feels tight due to swelling from the surgery. The swelling should start going away big time around the 3rd day. Getting up and walking will help also. Don't be afraid to take your pain meds as they will help you rest and allow your body to heal.

Yes, I had the same pain on Day 2. I phoned my surgeon as I was beside myself. Once I started on strong pain medication and stuff called "degas" I was a lot more comfortable but still didn't start to feel well until a week had passed.

I was banded a day before and felt horrible as well!!! I recognize the "gas" feeling now, but I am still sore. All the gas is gone but it feels like I've done 1,000 sit ups. My largest incision to my right is the sorest, and the port seems to give me some pain every now and then too. Although I am still sore, it is getting a little better day by day. I can't wait until I feel normal again. Better yet, to sleep on my side! I am so sick of sleeping on my back and being stiff in the morning! Ugh...we can do it though!

I was banded yesterday and I feel your pain! Or rather mine. I thought I was prepared but was surprised how much getting up and down hurts. I am trying to breathe deeply but that hurts too. :tt2::crying: I just keep thinking about how great I will look in a bathing suit this summer.

Hey, I got banded the same day in Brisbane Australia, and yes i was in severe pain from midday on. Too much wind left behind in the stomach, and yes the chest and shoulder pain. I had a hiattus hernia fixed at the same time, as they discovered it, and that i beleive has made it worst. Just get up or sit up, walking around is best, and take your pain killers. Just not getting alot of sleep in the first week. Appartently they had to leave more gas behind in me as they moved things around to do my hernia.

Know what you're goinmg through. Am getting some reflux, in my 3rd day post op.

On the right track , yep I think of how long I have waited to loose weight, the diabetuic tablets etc. Must keep the motivation up, and keep rewarding yourself in other ways, movies, etc.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
