Favorite "post-band" chain restaurant?

Recommended Posts

Looking for ideas about where to go out to eat. What's your favorite restaurant (chain - so we can all enjoy) now? Do they let you order off of the kid's menu? What Entrees have you found that are good to eat? Do they offer nutrition info?

I think Red Lobster would probably be my favorite - there's a lot of healthy options.

My favorite is not a chain.

Indian food is very easy for me to eat post-band.

I usually get a chicken masala or a chicken curry and I also order the pureed spinach or the paneer (indian cheese).

FYI - I don't eat the rice and I don't worry about ordering a kid portion. I love to take home my leftovers for my next meal.

We don't eat at chains very often b/c where we live we only have fast food chains. the sit-downs are all local.

BUT when we were in the city last month to take DH's parents out to dinner for their b-days, we went to Claimjumpers and I had a great dinner that was perfect.

It's on their appetizer menu and it's 2 crabcakes with a small side of organic baby greens lightly dressed in a yummy dressing. Comes with 2 dipping sauces. Both were good but used sparingly. It was perfect. I'd order it again if we go back.

FYI: I was doing some research pre-op (I'm getting banded on Wed. 18th) and SWEET TOMATOES, GARDEN FRESH, which is a chain said they would honor requests for 'kids' price on their AYCE menu as long as I had a card stating that I had Gastric Surgery. Good Luck

I love eating out and still enjoy all the same restaurants that i did pre-band with the exception of buffets, its just not worth dishing out the money for a buffet when you cant eat that much. I will say that i have never ordered off the kids menu because most of it is fried stuff or unappealing its easier just to get an appetizer or a salad or often times my teenage daughter and i just share a meal.

My favorite is any Chinese Restaurant. It is not often we go out to eat or bring home take out, but when we do it usually is Chinese food. I never go wrong with the Soup and pot stickers.

Hogsbreath - the steaks are wonderful. I'm not a big fan of a huge hunk of dead animal on my plate, but the way they slow cook it first then char grill - it melts in your mouth. Of course I eat about 1/4 of the smallest, but oh well.

Other than that we dont really do chain restaurants, there's many many more independent restaurants in Melbourne and much fewer chains. I like the pub, you cant beat a good counter meal.

In the mushy stage, I got beef masaman from our fav Thai Restaurant - it was perfect pureed, lots of sauce, add a little rice in the puree, very tender meat...loved the great flavor after a month of liquid!

For Breakfast on Sundays, we sometimes go out to eat with my parents to a place called Perkins. They serve a TON of food there, so I was worried about this. If you get a Breakfast there, you get pancakes, 2-3 eggs, 2 sausages, hash browns, etc. So much food that it comes out on 2 plates! WOW!! Last week, we went there and they let me order off the seniors menu (which is better and healthier than kids menus typically). I got 1 egg, 1 sausage patty, 1 piece of toast, and some breakfast potatoes. I ate the egg first, then the sausage, I nibbled the toast and had about 3 bites of potatoes and I was good to go!

Other restaurants...I've been to several and I've not had a problem about what to eat. I either eat an appetizer or get a regular meal and eat on it for about 3 days! The cost doesn't seem so bad when you divide it by 3 or 4 meals! LOL I'm going to save a lot of money on food now that I have the band!

I am glad to read that I can still enjoy some of my favorite places to eat. I don't eat at chains but I do love sushi, thai and indian.

I think once I am able, the first real food I am going to eat again will be some mackerel sashimi. Yum!

Hey there. I love going out to eat and we do at least 2-3 times a week. I go to fast food, and sit down. There is no where I wouldn't go. I can always get an app or just have some of dh's. I usually don't ever order a meal just for myself. Alot of times at the beginning my eyes were bigger than my stomache and we would order to much food. So now for example we went to margarita's last night and we shared the beef chimichanga. I ate maybe a 1/4 of it and hubby ate the rest including the Beans and rice and all the chips and salsa. I was stuffed and he was stuffed. It's definetly sometimes cheaper to eat out then eat at home. If I go to fast food I always get something off the 99 cents. Maybe a small salad or chili or even the 4 piece chicken nuggets. So you can find something anywhere!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
