Anyone on the Liver Shrinking Diet right now?

Recommended Posts

I've been on the liquid diet for 11 days. I'm drinking the EAS 20g Protein Drinks and they are pretty good. The first three days were tough but I know it has to be done. If I drink the Protein drinks and make sure I drink plenty of Water I'm ok. I can also have broth & sugar-free Jello. When I do get hungry between Protein Shakes I drink the Special K Protein water. It's really good and it works. My surgery is in 4 days and I'm so ready be over this part of the process.

I'm on Day 5 of 3 week pre-op 1000 calorie liquid diet. Day 3 was tough. I was taking depositions for 12 hours and finished the 3 cans of slimfast optima I had with me by hour 9. Rough hour drive home for liquid dinner past a lot of fast food that I enjoy. But I made it.

I'm getting ready to start my liquid diet on Thurs, 2/26. My surgery is scheduled for Thurs, 3/12. Frankly, I'm more nervous about this part of the process than anything. I tried a liquid Protein diet sponsored by Beaumont Hospital a few years ago and it about drove me crazy. I got so depressed. I hope this is different because I know that in the long run I will be having food again just in much smaller portions. My surgeon uses the Bariatric Protein Powder. We taste tested one yesterday and it was just okay, but that was just a sip. I think if I had to drink the whole thing it would have made me gag. I did order a few of the unjury samples today and hope those are better based on what I've read on this site. If anyone has any creative ideas for their powder please let me know. Slimfast, etc. is not an option with my doctor.

I'm also trying to make some slow changes. I had my last diet pepsi yesterday. Wanted to get weaned off the caffeine before I start the liquid diet.< /p>

Hi New Women, I am having surgery 6th March in Belgium, just wondering are you from Ireland, I'm from Ireland Co Kildare, i have started pr op diet it just has to be low fat,so I'm lucky compared to guy's on liquids,

I went through the liver shrinking diet from Feb 13-Feb 15th and had surgery Feb 16th. So, I am a bandster! All went well, still on liquids though, will be for a little while. I am 5 days post op and finally have an appetite, but I would venture to say its more cravings than appetite.

I am down 16 lbs since I started the liver shrinking diet, in 8 days. That's 2 lbs a day.

Starting weight Feb 12th: 254 lbs

Current weight Feb 21st: 238 lbs

Goal weight: 140 lbs

My surgery is the 16th, Monday. I just started my preop liquid diet. So, all day its been Water, sugar free Jello, and sugar free popsicles. To be honest, my butt hurts from the runs! Otherwise, no headaches yet.

How did your surgery go? Mine is on the 27th and I am on my 8th day of the liver shrinking diet. I am having a hard time today. I really want to chew something!

I just started my 2-week preop diet today, one day earlier than scheduled, as the Last Supper Syndrome was getting out of control. I know it is going to be hard, but have to say it's nice not to be thinking about what I am going to eat. My surgery is scheduled for March 10.

I was given a list of foods to choose from, could make up my own meal plan as long as I have 60+ grams of Protein and my calories are 1000-1200. I'm mainly having Slimfast shakes, Cream of Wheat, SF pudding and Jello, A&E chocolate milk with Splenda and we are allowed to have Slimfast Optima bars to satisfy the need to chew so I'm having one of those a day. Going to drink Decaf coffee and Water like crazy to help keep me feelig full.

I'm so glad you started this thread. I hung the mom's out for vacation sign in the kitchen this morning. Everyone is on their own for the next 2 weeks. I am offically on my 2 ptotein drinks and a healthy chioce meal for dinner today. So far so good. I am still so excited about my surgery. March 11th can't get here quick enough.

I have banned everyone with the sniffles away from my office.:) I don't want to take any chances at catching a cold and delaying anything.

So far it sounds like everyone is allowed to have full liquids. Am I the only one that has to do Clear Liquids for two weeks ? I'm trying not to throw myself a pity party about it, since it's just a means to an end, and something I want for myself. But I can't even have slimfast or Protein Shakes ? Man. Clear liquids for a month (two weeks before and two weeks after surgery) is a pretty tall order. Anyone else have to do this ?

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
