Who started with a weight over 300 pounds?

Recommended Posts

When I decided to get the lap band I was at 386. I starting changing things in my lifestyle before surgery (more active, eating healthy) back in August. I started my pre-op diet Jan 6 at 370, weighed 352 when I was banded Jan 27th. Went in for my first post op and was down to 339. I can't wait to get under 300, it will be the first time in over 10 years! :)

I was at 326 when I started pre-op diet on Aug 15, 08 and 309 the day of surgery Aug 29, 08. As of a couple of days ago I'm down to 236. I'm shooting for 230 by the end of the month and then my goal weight of 220 by the end of March.

Wow...that is amazing. :) Good for you! How much are you working out?

Hi:

I weighed 324 in April 2007. I was tired of being tired, having sore feet, etc. I lost 38 pounds before my surgery in July. I hit 199 on 4/23/08. So that you don't have to do the math, that's 125 pounds in one year! It's been slow since then, but I'm so close to goal that it doesn't matter. I weighed 177 this morning.

Good luck.

I love my band!

Sue

Hi,

I weighed 326 on November 1st and I was at 309 on my day of surgery on 11/19/08. Today (2/10/09) I'm down to 259. That's 67 pounds in 3 months.

I work out at least 1 hour a day by walking 3 to 4 miles on an incline of 9 or 10. This keeps my heart beat below 176 but that is for me, you may need to work up to that so be careful and don't overdo.

I haven't been too hungry (so far) but it's been difficult at times not to grab a soft drink during my lunch or supper. I think that has been the hardest thing for me so far. I do confess, when I start to get hungry I get up and walk for a while until the hunger goes away. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't but it's a trick I use to help me.

My initial target is 210 but I may lower that when I get close to that initial target, we'll see.

My wife and I had the band placed on the same day by the same doctor and it's really helped both of us. She is down 40 pounds from her start of 264 and is doing about 15 minutes of walking everyday but keeps her incline down to a 3 or 4. By both of us doing the band at the same time we understand what the other person is going through and we support each other.

At any rate, you will feel sore at first but as time goes bye you will feel better and want to do more and more.

Of all of the over 300's I've read about I'm most impressed with Sue Magoo, Bigpapa2 and Gingerbug! Way to go!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
