WOW there are so many people being banded this week I can't remember all of the names. GOOD LUCK, and keep us posted on your journey. Im scheduled for the 16th and can't wait!!! Thanks to all that posted on their surgery, its good to hear about someone who has just been thru this.

Bernadette:thumbup:

PS why is it that there is such a difference in having the liquid diet, some do some don't and some it is 3 days some 2 weeks??? You would think it would be the same for everyone.

Hi, and Bye! My surgery date has been post poned. I have been having female problems and have to cancel my surgery for the 16 of Mar so I can have a hysterectomy on the 23 of March. My only fear is that I will not be recovered enough to have my lap band by the 14th of May. I think I am as sad as I have ever been. My husband finally said that he is good with the surgery and now Ihave to wait for 6- 8 weeks. I wish you all success and I will pray for all of you. Just remember this is your second chance to do things right - do it well!

Dear Munger,

I am sorry to hear that you have had to postpone your surgery - but just look on the bright side - no more of the treaded curse!!!! I had a hysterectomy 5 years ago, it's a strange feeling having this operation done, but my womb was well used, if not over used! 6 children and 3 misscariages, I have not looked back, it is such a relief not having to go through that monthly cycle! I wish you all the best and a speedy recovery, try and have a vaginal hysterectomy, I did and not only is it one less scar on your body, but the recovery time is much faster. What us women have to go through, men don't realise, they've got it made!

You take care of yourself

fastpants when i turn 40 im getting the mommy makeover! lol 3 more years for me to go!

What is included in the mommy makeover? I am getting worried about what happens to your body after getting the band and losing lots of weight. I had promised my husband that after the band and a Tummy Tuck I would stop. I have been watching a girl on utube, she's called massagegoddess, she has done a video dairy of her journey,,,gastric band and tummy tuck, but she seems to have a lot of loose skin round her back under her arms. This has made me look more closely at myself...I think I'll also need my arms & boobs done! The massagegoddess has not had any kids, but I have, I've had six, my boobs are 4 times the size they were when I got married, at the moment I am happy with them and wouldn't change them but I expect after losing 80lbs they might end up in sacks down to my waist!

Take care

Just checking out my new signiture, hopefully it will appear. Being banded also on March 17th and now on day 4 of pre-op low-fat diet!:cursing:

Hi jewy,

How are you coping on the low fat diet?

I was worried about it but it seems to be going fine. I wasn't sure what low fat meant, so I e-mailed the doctor and he just the less fat the better! So I am only taking skimmed milk, no butter or cheese, obviously no sweets, chocolate or anything fried in oil. I'm trying only to eat lean meat, loads of veg etc...basically cutting out everything with fat in it.

What have you been doing? I see you've lost 4lbs, well done, I seem to have lost some weight too. I started thinking maybe I can do this myself without the band, reality struck, how long would I ;ast before I lapsed. At least with the band lapses are control in quantity!

Take care

Hi Fatpants,

I'm basically doing the same as you, cutting out sweets, chocolate, cake, pastry, no oil and only having low fat cheese and extra light flora. I'm also having a slimfast at lunch time to try and get used to liquids only after the op.

Finding it all a bit tough as I've been used to eating such a crap diet for quite a while. You seem to be doing pretty good though, keep up the good work!!

I have been OK so far, it helps that it's lent and I made the kids give up chocolate, although they get Sundays off, and I have a stash of chocolate that's been given to the kids in my wardrobe that they can have then, but I have been having dreams about it! I have basically stopped eating anything that requires buttering as it is just too much for me to resist Lurpak! Tonight I ate a chip off my husbands plate and all I could taste was oil so I didn't have anotherone! I decided not to punish myself with anything like slimfast as we'll soon have no choice! Why does everyone drink slimfast anyway, is it because of the minerals and vitimins?

Take care

My surgeon told me to avoid Ensure, Boost, and Slim Fast Products because they are very high in sugar content. So I haven't had a Slim Fast in awhile now.

I have been sad all day - but I know that doing this other surgery is more important right now. I am going to do sit ups like crazy before the surgery - so that my muscles will heal quickly. I fought with the insurance for 8 months - and when I finialy get so close - I have to stop and take another route. It will happen I just have to wait a little longer. Thanks for the prayers.

Don't be sad Munger, this operation is going to make you better - then you can get the band later.

Chin up girl!

I got pretty nervous a few days before my surgery, we go through a lot of emotions, all totally normal! I did ask my surgeon for a Valium for the day of my surgery, you don't want to go under when you're that nervous, it REALLY helped.I had surgery yesterday and it was a breeze! Take some Gas-X strips in case you have gas pain, and walk around as soon as you can, it really helps. Bring a pillow so you can put it over your lap to keep it the seat belt off your belly. Be sure you have your house stocked with lots of juices and broth, enough for a few days so you won't have to go shopping. Most importantly is to think good thoughts, keep your mind clear of negative emotions. You'll do great, I'll be thinking of you!

Thanks so Much for the advice. I was super nervous when I went in yesterday and told the nurse so they tricked me. All I remember is them saying "We're just gonna start giving you oxygen..." and I was out. So I didn't have time to really panick. I made it home today (due to an overnight stay for insurance purposes) and I'm just trying to relax. But I thought I'd get on here and say that All went great and good luck to everyone who's getting it done soon. Walking sure does make the gas go away and all that's left is the soreness of your stomach like you've done an hour long Ab Attack Class at a gym. Literally - AB ATTACK! Loving it already though!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
