Calling All MARCH '09 Bandsters - We need a name!

Recommended Posts

My surgery was around 9, and i was outta there as soon as i could keep Water down, and not throwing up.

I'm home and walking around for about 10 minutes every hour (if not more) to help the air go away. The pain isn't bad at all. I do have a very high pain tolerance. getting up, going from standing to sitting and taking really deep breaths are the only time i have any discomfort!

hubby is going to go get my pain meds soon from the pharmacy though, so i don't let the pain GET bad.

I was surprised that i wasn't nervous this morning. my BP was perfect, so it wasn't even making that go up!

i keep dozing off, so i better go take a nap, or at least try to rest!

Wow Girl! you did this as outpatient surgery? awesome! I don't have a choice and have to stay overnight. Your account makes me hopeful that all will be just fine. I think I have higher tolerence for pain also -so I hope that is on my side as well.

Keep us posted so we all learn from you - the more info the better! Congrats to you!!! One more week for me!

I am pretty nervous, not on liquid pre op, but low fat pre op having lost 13 lbs so far. I guess the scariest thing is that once I go asleep I am waking up with something foreign inside of me...but I keep thinking of the alternatives of not taking this step...

I don' really know a good name but my surgery date is March 27 @ 7:30 a.m. I have not told my family yet because they are against it, but I'm doing what I feel is right for me.

My surgery is March 5th at 5PM.

I am so ready for this.

On my pre-op diet, I have lost 20 lbs.

So, I am assumming that the post-op

diet will have me down a bit more too.

I will be offline as of today, cause

my surgery location is 3 hours away

and I am going up a day early so I

can ensure I am rested up for surgery.

My doctor will have me stay in the hospital

overnight since my surgery is so late in

the day.

I should be home sometime on March 6h,

but I am not sure how soon I will get

online again.

Hello all!

Had my surgery yesterday with the wonderful Dr. Kirshenbaum in Denver. I have very little pain, mostly when standing or sitting down. Be sure to bring Gas-X strips to the hoppital, they really work, and get up and walk if you have the gas pain, it's scary at first to walk but right away you'll feel better. My doc does it out patient which is great, we're from 2000 miles away from Denver but have a great mini suite with a kitchen and sitting room with a sofa and dining table. It was nice to get into bed here without all the hospital noise. I suggest bringing earplugs if you spend the night in a hospital, you'll get much better sleep. So folks, this is easy-peasy, you can do it and think where we all will be next March!

How are you doing on the liquid diet - my dr said ne doesn't want me to be on a liquid diet until after surgery?!?!?! I think I should and have bought some shakes and am going to drink two a day with a small dinner meal - i think i need to get my brain around liquids BEFORE surgery. Do you think the liquid diet is helping with cravings?

Hey All! I've been dying to get on here for weeks and talk with others that are going through the same thing as me but am just now getting the chance. My surgery is tomorrow-March 5- and I'm super excited but so nervous. Any advice?

I got pretty nervous a few days before my surgery, we go through a lot of emotions, all totally normal! I did ask my surgeon for a Valium for the day of my surgery, you don't want to go under when you're that nervous, it REALLY helped.I had surgery yesterday and it was a breeze! Take some Gas-X strips in case you have gas pain, and walk around as soon as you can, it really helps. Bring a pillow so you can put it over your lap to keep it the seat belt off your belly. Be sure you have your house stocked with lots of juices and br

oth, enough for a few days so you won't have to go shopping. Most importantly is to think good thoughts, keep your mind clear of negative emotions. You'll do great, I'll be thinking of you!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
