I have a question that is not really related to all the super great news on the posts before, but I could really use some advice from all those out there that have been pregnant with the band.

I am 10 weeks along as of today! The only downside is that I have been having all day morning sickness for the last 4 weeks

I feel a little better when my stomach is full, but that is hard when you have the band and are not used to eating to keep it full all the time. I feel like such a pig eating all the time! I haven't gained any weight, but I end up home every afternoon sleeping and then waking up starving and not feeling good all over again.

Has anyone else had this happen?

Help if you can!

Thanks,

bmadsgirl

Even for non-banders, one remedy for morning sickness that sounds like it would help you on other levels; eat high-carb foods right before bedtime.

Bmads, take Benadryl in pill form. It is safe for use during prenancy and seems to help calm the entire body, leading to less morning sickness. As well, only drink things at room temperature. My pal is having awful morning sickness right now and said those 2 things really help, as well as sipping lemonade or other sour stuff. I know that sipping sour stuff doesn't seem conducive to helping morning sickness, but it helped me the few times I was queasy.

As far as updates go, not much going on with me. I'm about 33 wks now, I feel like he dropped a bit last night, he's lower today and I have to pee alot! Also been having some annoying bouts of band tightness, but I know I shouldn't complain. Just don't want it to become a 24/7 thing, because it would suck to get to 8 months and have to have an unfill! In the past week I've had a 90 minute massage and a pedicure, it felt great to pamper a little! I even made the worrywart part of me shut up about the money. We've been saving and saving so much money these past few months to prepare for baby, it's hard to get out of that mindset!

Go for some long walks, have some sex, and my g'parents said they drove down bumpy roads for hours.

Had some sex this morning and sure enough a few hours later I got some bloody discharge and then about 3 hours ago started to experieince mild lower back cramping. I wouldn't say they are contractions as I can still function and have cleaned the house, so just taking it easy and waiting for them to increase.

Its now 11pm and I am going to try to get some sleep, hopefully have baby soon :wink2:

YAY Cherry! Keep us posted girl! We had our 34 wk exam on Monday and got an ultrasound, he's right on schedule, measuring to be a good-sized baby, probably around 8 lbs if I deliver at 40 wks, however I get a non-stress test around 39 weeks to see if he's doing ok, then they'll let me go as far as 1 week overdue, but either way, we should have this baby by August 4th or so! It's weird to know he's gonna be here soon! We also found out that I have anterior placenta, meaning we FINALLY have a reason figured out as to why it's like he only moves a little bit! 4 ultrasounds and someone finally tells us that we've been worrying for nothing, he's just under and behind the placenta, so i can't feel him as much.

In other, much blessed news, my BFF who has been TTC for over a year now is pregnant! She's had many miscarriages and was on Clomid, so it's a miracle! We are crossing our fingers and praying alot that this baby sticks, they are watching her very closely this time and have her on meds to prevent a loss...so please send happy thoughts our way!

Hello.. I am 22wks and I am still really nauseous.. eating consistently is the only thing that helps me. with my first I threw up every day for 7 months and with this one I am just very nauseous.. I have tried all the tricks and I even have medication this time around that I only take when I am really bad and need to function.. but YES I totally feel the way u do.. and because when I got PG I opened the band I gained weight faster in the beginning because I went from eating 1/2 cup a day to a plate of food and just the shock from the extra calories caused a little jump in weight gain.. I didnt gain a ton.. just more than with my first and it was a little disheartening after losing 33lbs.. BUt I am just trying to make good choices and eat good things and hopefully this next week when I go in I wont have gained 5 more lbs or something! :blushing: I just try to do the best I can and be realistic about the fact that my eating will be different from when I was tight and banded.. I just keep praising God that the band will be there for me when this baby is out.. and I wont have to lose this weight alone. I just try to eat when I am truely hungry or nauseous and try to make good choices. (like I eat salad with chicken on it and not a bowl of icecream :w00t:)

Yes Calvin was born on July 19th at 2:47am, not as big as my first at 3.085 kilos, was a nice delivery, much wuicker and alot less awful than my first labor.

He is doing well, is a good feeder, so fingers crossed breast feeding will work. Thanks for your well wishes. Will add pics when i figure out how to :(

I'm 36 wks and contracting a bit...was at the doctor's yesterday for my weekly check and she said I was contracting, but I didn't even feel it! So today some fun cramps and such...a few decent sized, painful contractions in there too, but no rhythm to them, not coming close together or anything, so i'm trying to remain calm.

Got another doc's appointment tomorrow, they wanted to re-check me 48 hrs to see if I effaced anymore, since I'm a little bit effaced already...I'll keep you posted, but i'd like at least another week or two...we have the last minute stuff to wrap up! Guess he'll come when he's ready...

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
