IT'S OFFICIAL: I'm a slow loser.

Recommended Posts

But you know what? I don't care. I've got this thing going on in my head that I am so much better off today than I was three or four years ago. That is when I first started to REALLY do something about my weight loss.

I was told when I was 31 years old that I was hypertensive and very much overweight. I never weighed then. I did feel bad though and my knees creaked every time I moved. I was wearing a very "fitting" (LOL!) size 28W/3X. Yeah, I was a big girl. Now I'm wearing sizes 16/18 and shirt sizes L/XL!!

I have an uncle who passed away very young from complications stemming from his Hypertension. I did NOT want that to be me!!

I started to work on the weight loss. I got down one whole size and was feeling good. I finally stepped on the scale in the Dr.'s office and it was 315. Can you believe that? Well I couldn't! Here I was feeling good for having lost a whole dress size and then *BOOM*! What a mood killer. :tt2:

Well over the next two years I would continue to work on my weight but I kept hanging around the 290's to 300's... I just kept eating too much. I knew I couldn't do it on my own, knew I needed some help. So I inquired of the band from my Primary Care Physician (PCP). She agreed, in order for me to control my portions, and to help with weight loss the band would be a good idea.

It helped going through all the Dietician courses and weight loss pre-op dieting I got down to 283 on Surgery day. However it did take me over a year to go from quesioning day to operating day. Yeah so another 15 Lbs. or so in a year. Blah!

Well now my 1st Bandiversary is on February 11th. I've lost 41 Lbs. since surgery and only 87 Lbs. total. That's 87 Lbs. in about 4 years. That's about 21-22 Lbs. per year. That's less than 2 Lbs. per month. ROFL!!

I'm telling you this though... I DON'T CARE! I lost 87 LBS!! :w00t::w00t::w00t::w00t::w00t::w00t:

I WILL make it to goal. I might be turning 40 that year too, but I WILL make it to goal. I have succeeded in far greater areas than just the scale.

I can run.

I can walk without squeeky knees.

I can shop in the NON-FAT LADY sections of the shopping centers (MOST).

I can workout and ENJOY IT!

I love to eat small portions and healthy food.< /strong>

I get so many compliments on my success so far.

I am on only a quarter of my High Blood Pressure Medications I used to be on!!!!!!!!!

ON AND ON...

That's all I have to say about that... :crying:

Woohoo! That is weight you will never see again! Who cares if it is slow, it is gone! Even if it takes you 4 more years to lose the rest it is better than not losing it at all!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
