From food to other "addictions"

Has anyone gone through a change which includes their past love of food before WLS to transfer of those addictions to other things? Such as alcohol, drugs, sex, exercise (I wish)? I am really going through a strange mental change. Now that I'm getting "noticed" and more attention, I have found myself obsessed with the "chase" of male attention. And an increase is sexual encounters that I would have never done before (unhealthy, unsafe, etc.). I'm in therapy. The therapist said that bariatric patients can have this happen. Anyone else out there?

I am becoming obsessed with exercising. It is a control and freedom issue with me. I use to be an avid long distant runner, and then I let my life get out of control with the consumption of lots of foods.

Anyway, now that I am limited to the amount of food I can eat and because the weight is falling off, I am now able to exercise. It is a great release. And when I don't get my exercise time, I get really pissy and down.

It is weird, I use to get high from food and look forward to food, now I get a high from exercise and look really forward to it.

No question about it....I've replaced eating with SHOPPING.

Not a good thing, I suppose, but at least there's a ton of bargains out there right now and it's far more fun to buy clothes.....

I can absolutely see myself doing this! Fortunately, my tastes are fairly simple, and I probably won't spend much more than I did on my food addiction.

Tquad,

I wish I picked up your addiction. I haven't gotten into the exercise the way I would like to.

Start slowly and build your way to it. I bought an Ipod, which motivates me to exercise to my favorite songs/music.
