Hello

I'm new to this site had my band fitted in sept 08 lost around a stone and a half . Had 2 fills only at 4cc my surgery was in Belgium and aftercare is poor . Does any one know of any support groups in my area and where I can have fills done here rather than waiting for the DR to come here every month and put the least possible amount in my band ?. look forward to hearing from anyone not just my fellow mancunians .:wink2:

Thankyou for that can I ask how much does your doctor put in per time or is it up to you ? . The current one I am using will only put 2 cc per month at £90 per time . It was done 26th september Iam only up to 4cc not really made much difference as yet . I am interested to know what happens here .

Are there any support groups around the Tameside area? I noticed a previous post that said you met on the 1st Tuesday of the month in Ashton, but that was over a year ago. Do you still meet? I'm desperate.

Hi Allan,

It's Michelle. Try and find the thread "anyone know chris de bruyne" and you'll find that guy I was telling you about. If you can't find it by that click on my name and click recent posts and it should take you to that post.

There is a weight loss surgery support group in Manchester affilliated to the WLS info charity and forum, for information contact email : manchestersupport@wlsinfo.org.uk

Hope that helps. Regarding size of fills, usually i would tell you to take advice from your surgeon, some prefer small fills, gradually building up restriction others take a more aggressive approach. However if you were banded last September and have not had enough fills to get restriction at all, you do need to find another fill provider.

Hi, due my first fill on August 7 and dreading it to be honest. Longing for it because 3 weeks post op I am now feeling hunger again but dreading I'll get there and the band slipped, the port flipped or whatever else might have occured while I've been eating mush and slush  Will get myself in a right state waiting for it but maybe the worry will help me lose some more before I get there. who knows????

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
