Help! Just got it on, cant take meds, & am sliming

Recommended Posts

Help!!! I just got my band on today at about 5pm. It took a while to get home because it was about 80 miles away. I have so much pressure in my chest from the gas. BUT most of all I am sliming!!! I can't take my antibiotics or pain meds. Even sipping them!!! And when I say sipping them I mean 1/2 to take about a teaspoon worth. What do I do?

Hopefully the swelling will go down and things will get easier.

If you aren't able to sleep and the sliming continues, you may need the er. I had a patch behind my ear that helped with nausea.

I was not allowed any oral Fluid intake for about 24 hours. This was after Idid the Fluid xray to check for leaks. Then only warm liquids rotated with cold liquids. You are very swollen. Try to get some rest and walk at intervals. They had me up after 4 hours walking the halls to help with the gas and gas pains. Call the Dr office as soon as they open or have someone call them, and you try to get some sleep. Anesthesia probably still in effect. take it easy. Youjust had surgery!

Check your release orders. They should have given you a copy upon leaving the hospital. Post-op instructions usually pretty straight forward.

Thanks everyone for your response and support. I just got back from having a second surgery. I spent the entire day there and no matter how they tried to get the swelling down so I could stop sliming, it just would not open up. The space was completely closed. They gave me steroids and not even one drop from a tear dropper would go through. The doctor says sometimes it happens that people swell...

I still have the band. It is around my stomach but it is not buckled. They are going to wait until the stitches heal and then take a look and see if they will close it or if they will switch it for a bigger band.

So I am banded but not banded...sigh...on second thought the last 2 days have been the worst in my life so taking it slow is a good thing. I never want to slime again!!!

Thank you all for your support!!! I am feeling much better today but I can see that my body is still swollen.

One of the reasons I wanted to get banded is because I have been having period problems for over a year. I haven't had a period since Thanksgiving and the doctor thinks that might be why I swelled up.

I have to give kudos to my WLS surgeon Dr. Tourah, Dr. Salimitari who did the second surgery (since Dr. Tourah was on call at the hospital), and Dr. Omidi (Who I thinks runs the center). I am a self pay and well I know that I am costing them money. After all of this, these doctors and all the staff at Topsurgeons.com get my recommendation!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
