My Doctor Has Become Concerned

Recommended Posts

I agree with everyone else. You are doing great as long as the baby is growing and is where he/she should be. My daughter never gains anything during her pregnancys, in fact she always loses. she is not banded, but is a little chubby. Her doctors say that she is doing fine and she has healthy babies. I liked the suggestion that you find a doctor that has band knowledge. Not to change doctors but so you can talk to them to get some peace of mind. If you worry it is not good for the baby either. So, from this mom of 6, grandma to 14, you are just fine! Best of luck, enjoy for it does go so fast you will wonder where the time went.

Just wanted to reply to Fairy and others and tell them that I, too, am probably gaining too much weight. The doctor hasn't said anything, but I'm 23 weeks and I've gained 25 pounds. I'm hoping that if I only gain the recommended 1 lb per week the rest of this pregnancy, then I'll ONLY gain 42 pounds this pregnancy, which seems like a lot given that I still had about 50-60 pounds to lose when I got pregnant.

So many people have told me that the body will gain what it needs, and I've met several women who ended up gaining 60 pounds and then eventually lost it just fine. But it's hard when I've seen friends only gain the recommended 25 lbs and realize that I've already gained that, and I'm only half way through this.

Both my babies were pre-banding but with the first baby, I gained 50 lbs, most of which I gained within the first 4 months and none in the last 3 months. He came one month early. With my second baby I gained 18 lbs, but none in the last 2 months. Once the baby gets bigger, there simply isn't enough room left to eat so your weight should plateau soon or even drop a bit in the latter part of your pregnancy.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
