Welcome to me, I guess

Hello everybody, I'm Brett. I'm 28, 5'10 and my weight when I decided to get banded was 385 lbs. which was 10/14/08.

I was banded on 12/9/08. My surgery weight was 367 lbs.

I got my first fill this morning, 3cc's and weighted in at 352 lbs. I'm really excited about how well things seem to be going for me so far.

I'm able to get in and out of my wife's Prism without struggling or anything, seat belts have started to fit me again, I'm not winded walking up and down stairs and my pants are already getting too small for me and I've only just begun.

I thought that 3cc's seemed pretty aggressive and I've felt a bit off since the fill, so I was searching Google and that's how I came across this site. :grouphug:

Welcome!

What is your band capacity? I have a LapBand APL...it holds 14 cc's So 3 is a "little" aggressive, but not too much. I have 4.5 ccs in mine so far (doc is NOT aggressive!) and feel a little restriction sometimes. What is happening, though, is that I'm full faster and stay thatg way longer, so I'm getting there!

Good luck to you!

I have no idea what my band capacity is. I know my Dr. (Dr. Darrin Hansen, Salt Lake City UT) told me that I have a larger band.

Before my fill I didn't feel like I was really getting full, just watching what I ate because of the surgery and not because of anything I felt.

So far, since my fill, I've only had a Protein shake, I'm supposed to avoid solid foods today and do mushy foods tomorrow.

You don't really NEED to know the capacity as long as you're going to that doc and he knows! But if you're curious, you can always ask. I THINK lap bands come in 4cc (old style), 10cc and 14cc. So if you're in the larger one, 3cc's isn't too much. I sure couldn't tell it at all when I had 3cc's, but then we are all different!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
