Hello. I am new here. I have read alot of post and some good stories. I had my lap band on 12/29/08. I am 8 days post now and everything just seems to be to good to be true. No pain, no sickness, and full of energy. However, I still seem to stay hungry. I have pretty much stuck to the diet I am to be on including getting all my Protein. I just dont understand if I have a 2 oz. pouch, then why after eating 2oz. do I not feel this fullness sensation. I have actually ate 6 oz. of food in one meal I am ashamed to say. It was cottage cheese and a sugar free Jello pudding cup. According to my scales I am down about 17lbs. in the first 8 days, but I just dont understand this being hungry all the time. Anyone have the same feeling as me and still feel great?

don't eat until the doctor tells you you can! please!

and yes, your pouch is 2 oz. but, how big is the passage between it and the rest of your stomach? Until you are restricted, most things will still pass through easily. so you will be hungry!

but please quit eating ahead of your post op diet that is dangerous for your healing!

I was also banded on 12/29/08. I find that if I keep on top of the Protein Shakes that I am not as hungry. I also drink Water all day long. I cam not wait to have mushy foods. Who would have ever thought I'd be so happy about yogurt. Try not to eat before you are able to you would not want to damage the hard work you have done.

Hi! I am new here too! I had my lapband on Dec. 30th. I am still on full liquids but I was told I can have pudding and yogurt as well but I'm starving! I get really tired by midday. I have left shoulder pain and my upper back kinda hurts...it feels tight. I don't know how else to describe it. You are lucky to be feeling so well! I have lost 7 pounds since my surgery but I figure that is pretty good since it has only been a week. I keep imagining how good scrambled eggs from IHOP would be right now. LOL! I teach7th and 8th grade so by midday the hunger is pretty bad. Hopefully I haven't been to cranky with the kids. LOL! Good luck with your band!

I was banded 10/23/08 -- after about the first week, I started feeling hungry -- and by the time I was on mushies & real food, I could eat pretty much just as I could before the surgery. It's important to remember that your band isn't really "working" for you until after you get a good fill.

For now, just focus on healing -- and following your dr's orders perfectly! You'll be in "Bandster Hell" soon enough (period before restriction), so you may as well enjoy losing on the post-op diet now!

Congratulations on your surgery!

Catherine (BTW, am at 210.4 now -- haven't updated signature lately)

Your band is not tight enough to hold in the food. You should be eating/drinking 4-8 oz. It might slow down a the band, but it is still going right through. So the hunger you are feeling is just from giving your whole stomach little bits of food all the time, so it is never really full, and digests quickly, so it is hungry all the time. The only thing that helps me is to not drink for 45 min after eating. It sucks because I love to drink with my meals, but I have to start practicing sometime...

I noticed you are a teacher...I teach Pre School and want to be able to go back to work after a week and a half. How long did you take off?? We have Feb Vacation so I am looking at having the surgery Friday the 13th and back 10 days later. Were you tired? Kimberly

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
