December Bandsters

I was hoping to start a thread with those banded in December, since many of us are at the same stage. I know I am in Bandster Hell. Let's get a thread going to support and encourage each other through this time. Any takers?

Hi,How do you know things are so different/ is it so much of a fill that you cant eat anything? i am hoping my fill on Thursday will help me out1 I have only lost14 pound since December 16 o8.i hope i get better Lisa

Lisa, you and I are in the same boat. Talk about SLOW to NO weight loss. I am sure that I have something to do with the lack of weight loss, but I can still eat!

I can tell I am restricted when it takes longer for my food to go down. When I am not restricted, I can eat the same way I always have. When I AM restricted, I have to eat MUCH slower, take smaller bites and chew a bunch of times. If not, I WILL FEEL the awful feeling of something being stuck! Most times, when I am full, I get the hickups. It's really wierd. But I stop after that.

Lately, I've had this God awful sweet tooth. I could have like a burito for the entire day and the rest SUGAR: chocolate, Cookies, etc. I have to admit that I have satisfied my sweet tooth on occasion, but I'm not sure where it came from. Has anyone else had this problem?

Hopeful 09,I have a sweet tooth now too! i think it is because it sure goes down easy! And in your mind, hey i havent ate much today.I also have a problem eating only 3 meals a day! by 7-8 at night i am starving.Do you have that problem? I drink lots of water but the urge is so strong.I get my fill ( second one ) Thursday.I hope its better Lisa lap 63

I have had sweet tooth lately also. I started around Valentines Day, watching all that chocolate...I bought some smart ones desserts and have one once in a while to get my "fix." Low fat peanut butter is also a close personal friend of mine:drool:

Hi guys...

I was banded on 1/6/09 just missed the december mark. I lost 20lbs my first month but now I seem to be stuck and going four five days not losing any weight at all...

Any suggestions???

I was banded Dec. 17, 2008 and want to join this group. Is it set up as a group or just a link?

Hi there! It is just a thread? im not a computer wiz ,so excuse me.How did you lose so much weight? How many cc are in your band? I cant get below 220! I havent lost much at all! What are you doing? Lisa lap 63

Hey Cordova Chick, I'm in Bartlett! Nice to see someone close to me! I want to know how you loosing so much also? Is that the pre band lost also, or the lost from just the band? Tell us your secret????

I was banded on Dec 9,2008

I have lost 20 lbs and I am on dialysis and I can not have all the fluids -- I have fluid restrictions - so my loss will take longer -- I have had 2 fills - I can have fills every two weeks, but do not --- the days of liquids are very difficult because of dialysis ---

I was not happy with the band at first but now I am getting used to it

Hey Cordova chick,Tell us your secret? is that pre band weight also?

Beth, how did you get 2 fills so quick? have you lost alot too? How many cc? so far/ Lisa Lap 63

You can get adjustments every two weeks, depending on your progress, I guess I'm just the aggressive type that I push for the two appt. I feel I don't have the time to wait a month to see if I'm at my sweet spot. I go for my third fill tomorrow at 1pm. Since my banding on 12.30.08 I have lost 22 pounds, that is not counting pre banding lost.

I'm still trying to figure out these posts & threads; not too good at it yet. In September last year I had been working on getting lap band approval & started Weight Watchers. From Sept. 22 until Dec. 12 I lost 22 pounds. Great ideas came from WW. Their taco soup recipe is great; I eat it at least once or twice a week. After surgery you're on the liquid & then puree diet so that's where I lost the most. Since then I've been losing 2 lbs. per week. I eat yogurt between meals & at night if I have a craving I eat the Skinny Cow (Walmart & Schnucks carries) chocolate fudge bar which is 1 fat gram. 3 fills but this week I'm hungrier than in awhile & fighting the urge to overdo. My motivation is that I feel so much better; my cholesterol went below 200 for first time in years. Walk better, sleep better (no heartburn). My doc suggested picking out 12-15 foods and sticking w/them. I've pretty much done that - salad w/grilled chicken; the taco soup; fruit; yogurt; salmon & veggies. Haven't done anything like I hear some people eating BBQ, hamburgers, etc. Stayed with healthy & low fat foods. I've lost each visit and I'm thankful for that but this is a tough week and having to really talk to myself about drinking water or getting busy so I won't eat. Glad I found this group; now if I can figure out how to get back.

Beth,I have had 2 fills which are total of 5cc now my doc says see you in 6 weeks! Im like you in that i dont have the time to wait,i think i will call and ask.I must lose because my knee is shot and i am in pain.I need a new one but my knee doc said to lose the weight first. Its kind of difficult when after i work only 3 hours a day i can hardly walk! I wish you the best .How many ccs do you have in? how much can you eat at a time? half a cup? or more? Lisa Lap 63

Cordovachick,i am eating healthy foods too,but i get hungry alot.I dont think my band is tight enough.I have been a wwatcher member about 15 times.my appetite always wins, thats why i chose this route. So you eat 3 healthy meals a day and snack in between? How much can you eat at one time? do you have to force yourself to quit eating ? Or do you get full fast.Would you say you can eat up to 1 cup of food? just curious Lisa Lap 63

Lisa Lap 63, yes just push the issue about more fills / adjustments as long as your stomach is able to handle it. I eat three meals a day, maybe - no snacks unless I just have too, and that is a Luna protein bar, I usually have a protein shake in the am w/ fresh fruit blended in. As for my eating amounts, well I can hold about 9-12 ozs per meal. Everything I eat meat wise, I just the food chopper. Usually I will get the feeling of an elephant sitting on my chest and thats it, I'm done. And other times I get the hiccups and know thats when I done.

As for the CC's my doctor does not tell you what he puts in you, he feels that in some cases you might think you have to have 8cc just because "sally" has it, and he wants his patients to be indiviauls and progress as you own pace. Makes sense to me. So I never ask how much I have in there, I want to just know that its' working.

Beth, thank you for your reply.i am going to call and push the issue, why not? I hate all this waiting in between.i am not the kind that sits back either ,but i thought that was just how it was.I think i am going to start putting my meat in a chopper, too mant accidents happen with me,swallowing too much i
