Did you exercise today?

Recommended Posts

Lil,

I hope you didn't hurt it badly. I've been afraid ever since beginning to exercise that I would hurt myself. So far I haven't done so. (Knock on wood.)

I did my 2 miles this afternoon on the treadmill. It's supposed to be my easy run, but it was still hard.

Oh my - having trouble getting to the gym.

Was working on a presentation all weekend, and just didn't find the time. Now on call for 30 hour shift before leaving for Carmel, CA for a work conference.

Hoping to work out at the beach while in California...determined to find the time!!!

Shiny -

My cousins and family have been asking me that question for the last 6 years.

I'm actually a physician, and work in the hospital regular daytime hours and then every 4th night on call - so from 7am today until 1pm tomorrow...

Sometimes, I can get a few hours of sleep, other times, I can't.

Then repeat about every 4th night...for 5 years now.

They limit our hours to 80 hours a week - that is the most I'm allowed to work.

Fortunately, I'll be finished with all my training in 6 months, and I'll never have to work more than 24hrs in a row.

But, a warning to all out there, don't ask me any medical questions... I only take care of patients that weight less than 15 pounds (in the Neonatal ICU)...

One of the biggest things I've changed since the band is packing food for these shifts. I used to just eat whatever I could in the hospital and now I actually pack food for the whole time - lunch, dinner, snack, Breakfast, and a second lunch. It has made all the difference in the world.

Well bless you for your hard work for the tiniest among us. That is truly grueling if you're actually working for many of those hours.

Enjoy your trip to Carmel. We used to live in Salinas and would travel to Carmel and go to the beach. There are beautiful white-sand beaches there. I remember one in particular that had a huge hill we'd run down and people would make amazing sand sculptures there.

Ahh Travel-Anna, now it makes sense! And yes, making lunches makes a difference. If I didn't do that, I'd be downstairs in the food court eating; and self-control is not my strength!! Anna - enjoy the beaches.

I did my time at the Y this morning - chest/biceps workout with weights, then hit the tm for 30 min. I managed to 'run' for 10 minutes straight, and then intervals of 2 minute runs a few times. So, my initial 31 min to do 2 miles is now 28 min...an improvement!

How is everyone else doing??

Wasn't going to post here. In fact, I wasn't even going to read it because I haven't been working out. But since it was bold faced and I wanted to clear it I just popped in to read what you guys had written. Good thing I did, now I'm inspired and going to jump up right now and work out. Thanks!!!!

Ezma - I am glad to see you posting again. Take those precious minutes, and do the exercise for yourself. It will help give you the energy to do all the other things!

I did my bike for 30 minutes last night. Taking it easy with my injured or broken knee...what have you.

Broken? Did you seriously break your knee? How did it happen? I really hope it's not broken and that you heal soon.

Due to lack of planning yesterday I didn't exercise. :cursing: I need to take it more seriously and plan each day's exercise for a specific time. Today will be a 5 mile run on the treadmills. I'm excited to try out my new running shoes. I'll report in afterwards.

Well during my jog Monday morning my knee popped and I've had a painful time on it since. Its kinda squishy too. I have a Dr. Appt tomorrow so I'll see what my PCP suggests.

I've just been doing a very low key stationery bike since last night.

Awesome on your 5 miles! You ROCK! Let us know how it turns out!

Hi all,

I haven't posted in a bit, not much exciting on the exercise news, except that I'm hanging in there and doing it everyday (I do miss a day here and there :bored:). Still doing about 3.5 miles on my treadmill, but improving speed!

Travel_Anna, I just wanted to say God Bless you in your work with the little (or tiny!) ones! That has got to be so challenging yet very rewarding.

LilMissDiva, I hope your knee is not seriously injured. Keep in touch and let us know how you are doing!

ShinyHappyMommy, you have my admiration - running 5 miles! That's a distant dream for me, I don't have such great knees either. I try and run some while on my treadmill, but I can only keep it up for about a minute - then I have to slow back down to a jog.

But on the plus side, my weight plateau seems to have broken - I've finally lost 80 pounds!!!!!!!!!!! :w00t: I never thought I'd make it this far. Just 22 pounds to goal . . . the last time I weighed 150, was when I got married (17 years ago). I was teasing with my hubby that he'd get back the woman he married, lol

I used to tease my husband when I was heavy that he had gotten twice the woman he bargained for. He doesn't mind losing that other half so much although he was never ever negative to me about my weight. Bless his heart.

Well, I made it 4.5 miles. It was supposed to be 1 mile warm-up (I did a level 4.7), 3 miles at a challenging speed (I did a level 5.7, bumping it up to 6 and even 7 at one point.), 1 mile cool-down (4.7 again). I made it through all but the last half mile of cool down. My toes were killing me in my new shoes and I couldn't continue. I need to wear my insoles from my other shoes next time. I should know better than to try running five miles the first time I wear a pair of shoes. I'm exhausted, but proud of my accomplishment. Saturday will be a new distance of 6 miles. Yikes!

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
