Food getting stuck?

Recommended Posts

I have a question about the food getting stuck. First of all where is it getting stuck? If at the band isn't it supposed to not go through the band? I had a fill on last Monday and the food is getting stuck more than it used to. I have been taking small bites, I just really need to chew more I guess. I am VERY restricted at morning time. Tried to eat scrambled eggs for Breakfast and couldn't. They would get stuck every time. In the evenings I am not AS restricted, but still restricted. Anyway, any info would help. Kinda confused about where the food is getting stuck at!!

food get can get stuck at the opening between your upper pouch and the rest of your stomach. In very nasty cases, it gets stuck in the constricted part. So chew, chew, and then chew some more and only swallow a bit at a time. The idea is for the food to remain in the upper pouch for a longer time and gradually move down to the rest of your stomach. I find myself doing the squirrel thing. I take a bite, chew a lot, keep some in my cheek and swallow a little. It also gives me a chance to make sure that it will go down ok if it is a new food.

If the piece is really too big, the esophagus will spasm before it even gets to the pouch. That leads to a really quick pb.

Hey kelly!

i dont think i'll be of any help as i am having the food stuck thing too.

this weekend i had another (2nd) pb episode and the golf ball thing 3 times... it happens when i first start to eat usually with the first bite or two. i think it is from 1. to big of bites 2. throat needs lubricant to help it slide down. it happened to me with chicken all 3 times. i know i am not overeating as it only happens the first bite or two. i DID NOT enjoy the PB it made me feel panic-y even though i knew it was a PB. definitally want to aviod that one!

it almost felt like the food would slide down some then just get lodged...if i take tiny sips of Water it kinda pushes it down.

after the first bite thing i have no problems with the rest of my meal.

I found that it helps if I drink warm Water before I begin to eat. This will relax your stomach and allow the food to move down smoothly. It works for me, you may want to try it next time.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
