Aaaannnd... DONE. I finally finished reading all the posts I've missed. That's right, I don't half ass it and skip this stuff, I've read every single page of this thread. All 804 pages. That doesn't make me sound too good. I swear, I sometimes have a life too!

Congrats Ash! I'll be thinking about you tomorrow!

Congrats Chrissy and Annalynn two more surgeries scheduled! Woohoo!

I have not been following the 1200 calorie diet, tough to do with the move. I tried the first night we worked on the house and I had chicken and salad for everyone, they looked at me like I was punishing them. So, I fed my crew pizza, chips, Cookies, donuts and everything else high-fat, high calorie, high carb. I didn't do a food log for the past two weeks, and didn't weigh myself until this morning. (The scale was left at the old house for a while) The scale seemed kind to me, I gained a couple of lbs (about 3) but sometimes I just fluctuate like that. I have only been to the gym once all month, but I was getting a ton of steps in. Moving day had my pedometer at 18000+ steps for the day.

I'm hoping to have the house ready to invite everyone over for a walk and lunch sometime in the next month. It'll be a Saturday. I'll let you know!

Thinking of you Ash! Hope all goes well!

BTW, at my pcp appointment last week she went over plastic surgery a little bit and showed me on the computer the criteria for Tummy Tuck. The computer said you had to be under 180 pds, 80% of goal weight, and the excess skin had to be to close to the knees. There was an exception for repeated skin irritations. She was basically telling me that I am not a candidate--one drawback from having the weight all over and just in the gut! My ass carried much of my weight so I guess I should have asked about a butt lift!

I updated my ticker! Yeah! 1/3 of my weight to goal!

Back to work today.....and of course my first day back they are having a celebration this afternoon with lots of food! This will be a test of will power!

I am glad I took the four weeks off but it feels good to come to work and have everyone finally notice the weight loss! No one at work knows the surgery so I feel kind of guilty.

Hey yall...I have not posted in a while I have been SUPER sick. Lucky me with a stupid sinus infection and bronchitus. It was a rough week!

John-my case manager appointment went okay..umm nothing nice to say. I was even asked why I am loosing so slow?? Umm I am down to 255 and I was at 281.5 so I am not quiet sure what she meant and I was at goal in 3 weeks. I just ignored that statement and was like WTF?? Ohh well!

I am having that thing put in me on THURSDAY. I am really scared as I have said before. I guess they will give me some good drugs though. lol! Then just the waiting game from then on. I realized that that was 4th of July weekend which is AWESOME! I have off that Monday cause the 4th is on Sunday so I will have 4 days off to "prepare myself". YAY!

No word yet from ash's hubby. She promised I would get a text! HA HA. I will update you on that when she does.

Riley-congratulations on those new eyelids. I am gonna need the whole Tummy Tuck thing for sure. Man I already need it now. I am proll going to switch to sutter medical group when I do that because one of my friends did that and they cover it with our insurance. Kaiser told me it has to hang over a foot. EWWWWW! I know kaiser will do my boobies and I will do that if these damn things dont go away-Candra's didn't and I can't live with these F's and all the problems they bring!

WISH ME LUCK ON THURSDAY!!!

HEATHER-When we gonna have the lunch walk???

Chrissy

Yeah Ash!

Annalyn, I don't think I used anything I took...not even my robe! I used the hospital gowns and they gave me booty socks. Wearl comfy cloths there and then you can wear them home too. Your stomach will be very sore so loose fitting pants. I took my ipod but I only used that while waiting in the pre-op room; after that I just kept worrying about it getting stolen so I should have left that at home.

First day of work went good; Robin called me today and advanced my diet! So soft food here I come. At the party today at work they had shrimp and some chicken wings so I actually got to eat something! Yeah. 3 shrimp and 2 drummettes!

ASH!!! You rock girl. I can't wait till you can post that you're home and doing fine. Congratulations and sit right here on the Loser's Bench when you're able to sit up.

Analynn, two hours of Liz and two hours of Robin at the class. Bring all of your Vitamin bottles so that Robin can check them for you to be sure you're on target. Why two days in the hospital? They tell us all that but so far, everyone has gotten out the next day. The worst part of the sleeve is no Water or ice chips until your leak test the second day. My mouth was so dry. They give you these disgusting lemon flavored sponges to wipe your lips. Liz told me not to bring a phone or iPod because if you leave in on a tray or something, they get dumped in the trash. I just brought the clothes I was wearing (no undies) and slide on shoes. It's great to have a pillow to hold up to your abdomen on the ride home in case of bumps. The meds are great, you won't want to do anything except sleep in the hospital. Meds on the hour, BP the next hour, walk every four hours all night and nothing is coordinated so you basically don't sleep. After the leak test they bring you a tray of broth, Jello and water and a 1 ounce cup. They say once you've had 8 ounces, 1 every 15 minutes, you can go home. I got down 5 and proclaimed myself done and said it was 8 because it was 4pm and I wanted out of there. I was home alone that night and had no problems.

Chrissy, so sorry you've been sick. I'm so sorry you were treated so rudely! That really sux. You've done a great job losing your weight so quickly and being so dedicated to the program.

I'm having a blah week. I need some sunshine and swimming!

Good news Ash!

Is shrimp and chicken considered soft foods for the sleeve? If so wow you're lucky cause it wasn't for the band. If I recall soft foods for me was things like scrambled eggs, tuna w/ mayo. Is that the stage after pureed foods? Glad to hear you are feeling good being back at work. I was off for two weeks and found going back to work helped distract me.

Riley - gosh after hearing you talk about a Tummy Tuck I took a look at my tummy and it looks pretty scary - decided I won't be doing that again any time soon.

Pam, shrimp and chicken may be considered soft foods for Sleeve but I threw up constantly when trying to introduce foods. I still have difficulty with both of those items. I'm on regular food now. I had two slices thin ham/ 1/2 a string cheese roll up today and was sick for two hours after lunch. I couldn't finish it. Sleeves can be pretty finicky. Mine definitely hasn't been user friendly lately. Dr. Baggs put me on Carafate last Friday to see if my Sleeve would settle down.

Ali, I'm amazed you could get down that much food. That would be a big challenge for me at this point. Every sleeve is so different. I think it's great that you're doing so well! Keep up the good work.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
