Kaiser Richmond Pre-op

I will be happy to receive any clothes; over the past year I have bought very few clothes and what I bought was all size 24....so I will be happy to recieve any 22/24's. Hopefully I wont have them long but it would be great to help me get through and then I will have something to pass along to the next group of newbies.

Saturday will be my first meeting at point west but from what I learned was it runs from 11-1 and then lots of them go to lunch afterwards. I don't know what room but they said just ask when you get inside the building door. Looking forward to meeting everyone.

So glad to learn that shoe sizes shrink too!

Pam – I will buy some and try some Splenda. Thanks!

Nicolie – Glad you are doing well!! I will try the cream of wheat later in the week. I love cream of chicken/potato Soups. Going to make a couple later this week by scratch.

My latest recipe for a "sweet" high-protein snack:

Mix low-fat or fat-free cottage cheese with sugar-free strawberry, raspberry, or blueberry preserves (smuckers, Walden Farms), add a dollup of sour cream and mix. De-lightful!!! High Protein, very low carb (I use low-fat cheese and sour cream - less carbs than nonfat) especially if you use the Walden Farms product, which is sugar/calorie/carb free! You can buy them online, or at Raleys or Lucky's

The Point West meeting is on Saturday from 11-1 and we go to Mimi's Cafe after.. There will be a ton of clothes there to go through, the exchange is what has totally helped me through. I have only had to buy 1 pair of jeans so far. They do it in the conference room which is in the middle of the first floor. Its usually in the first room but last time they had a board that said the second room. I cant wait to meet the new people and see everyone else!! I will be on Mush at lunch. yee haww lol.. I actully like the cream of rice...lol I grew up with cream of wheat so it was a nice change. Foods that I have always hated--hard boilded eggs, cottage cheese, tuna---somehow have become my friends. I am so glad that I can eat them now and not gag...at nearly 50 my taste buds are changing!!!:tongue_smilie:

Hey all

Lee ~ I had a bad bad sore throat for almost the entire first week! I hated it! Just kept drinking Water and tried to keep it moist.

Riley ~ Congrads on your 1 year if I didn't say it this morning!

Well, I don't know but my emotions since the band have been outta wack, not sure if its my body getting used to being on birth control, or what, but today I am STRESSED OUT!!! I feel like I have so much going on, I am arguing with everyone (my mom, my ex, my bf), I dont know. Which of course equaled me eating.

Breakfast: Grande Skinny vanilla Latte

Lunch: 1 and a half boca burgers w. 1 oz cheese

Snack: 1/2 cup or so frozen yogurt w. reeses on it

Dinner: smallest order of chow mein, and smallest order of orange chicken from Panda Express

was gonna walk 2 miles tonight but im just not feeling it.

Hello Everyone,

I just woke up from a two hour nap that felt great. I went out for a walk this afternoon but didn't get that far because my big incision just pulls and burns so badly when I'm walking. I'm going out again to walk when Zach wakes up.

Tamra, I was on antibiotics for my sore throat pre-op so I'm concerned this isn't just post-op tube stuff. My doc is going to see me and xray my chest tomorrow if I'm not starting to feel better.

food today has been good. Drinking a 15 calorie cup of organic chicken broth right now to soothe my throat. Probably 1/3 cup Protein pudding or Soup for dinner. I'm getting in over 50 oz fluids and over 50 grms protein so doing well. I love cream of rice and cream of wheat but don't want the carbs without the protein.

Have a fun evening everyone!

Night, night,....it's been a long day...

Hi Everyone - wow you guys sure write alot - I had 3 pages to read since I posted Sat! We went to a wine festival on Sat since 2 of my sisters are out visiting. I was the desiginated driver!

Sunday was a really hard day for me. Tamra I was blue also and I was really eating way too much at each meal plus I ate a whole banana and 3 slices of cheese (yeah what is it about cheese?) in between meals. Not sure what it was all about but today I am fine and eating OK. I made turkey chilli on Sunday (it is the recipe from the Sonoma Weight Loss Surgery cookbook) and have pureed it and added cheese and a tsp of ff sour cream. Soooo goooood!

Went to Armstrong Woods for a walk in the Redwoods today with all my sisters - it was fun and we walked for over an hour.

I have to go back to work on Wed :tongue_smilie:! I like being home!

Riley - I invited everyone that wants to trek to Petaluma to walk the Wetlands on 3/20 and then come to my house for lunch afterwards. So far we have Jes, Candra, CoCo, Tamra, and Heather. Not sure if I left anyone off.

Happy Bandiversary! You are my hero. It is so great to hear all the things you have gained in this year. I think you look fantastic - size 10 is perfect (my goal), so don't stress about the weight #, and you are in such great physical shape.

John - so glad you are doing well. You made me laugh out loud with your penis story. I'm glad to see you givin back to all us gals! We deserve it!

Tamra - I love your new picture! And you are doing so much better with your Protein - I am proud of you! Isn't 15lbs amazing for 1 month! This so rocks!

Lee - sorry you have been having sore throat/fever, but glad you are following up on it. I am so impressed with you getting on the treadmill. Have you and your son gone outside for a walk? I am so going to miss my 1 hour wetlands walk each day when I go back to work - am planning to work for 1/2 hour at lunch though.

Maria - aren't 16s fun. I am fitting back into mine and I have so many things I forgot I had. Today I am wearing my favorite Liz Clairborne sweater jacket - I was so excited to fit into it and it is a size large - not an extra large! so cool. I wish you all the best with your interview on Wed.

Heather - you are so inspirational with your fitness challenge. You are amazing. I am proud of you - keep up the great work!

Mo - congrats on the mediums - so very cool!

Candra, Donna and Reggie - where are you?

Jes - how are you doing?

Pam - I think it has been great that you have been doing the gym - I bet if you keep at it you will see the weight start to move again.

Hi to anyone else I forget and to some new folks I don't know.

Oh, I forget - I had my Robin appt today and I move to Stage IV on Wed. Can't wait to be able to chew something!

Also, in the spirit of TMI - I've lost 4 inches off my bra size (actually skipped a size) - but my hubby is happy since my cup size is the same!

I just got home from the gym. I can barely type. I know I said that I love being sore but this is major sore! I can only imagine how tomorrow will feel. I've got spaghetti arms! I got quite a workout!

My Omron pedometer came in the mail today. Now I just have to figure out how to set it and I'll start tracking tomorrow!

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
