So, about how far is 10,000 steps? I ordered my Omron pedometer online last week. Should be here Monday!

Hi Heather-It depends. For example, the other day, I did 10,395 steps and it was 3.38miles. Right now, I'm at 9311 steps and is measures 3.41miles. I always hear that it's good to aim for 10,000/day. I usually average 4,000-5,000 on a day when I do not exercise. I think that's pretty good too. You can look online at various sites to see what's good. I saw a site that had a chart with labels of poor, good, fit, very active, etc.... measurements. What model Omron Pedometer did you get? I have the one that I think Pat has. It is PC compatible. You can connect it to your computer and see different charts for the days, months, and up to 4 years logged. The unit itself stores 7 days.

Lee? Feeling any better?

I've decided to wait on the next stage until tomorrow. Starting to get a little hungry but overall not too bad. Feeling much better. Still taking some pain meds here and there.

Happy Saturday night!

Hello,

I've had a rough day. My regular temp is 97.6 and this afternoon it was 100 which is a fever for me. My big incision site is killing me. I have a big wet cough going on as well. I just keep sipping and sipping and got in around 32 oz of fluids today.

John, I'm glad you waited a day. Robin explained to wait until day 5 to move on to full fluids. I may have a touch of hunger, but not really. I think it will feel good to have some Protein tomorrow.

I'm going to walk around for awhile and watch olympics, try to get some of the Fluid out of my lungs.

Sweet dreams everyone!

Tamara,

That's awesome! Keep up the focus.

Lee,

Take care; I think you might want to email your doc if today isn't any better.

I'm waiting for the sun to shine to energize me.

Dr. Oz says 10,000 steps a day and food logs..........how much is that Omron run? I have the regular pedo nothing fancy.

Lee-I had the darn wet cough after surgery and it hurt to cough. I think it was a touch of pneumonia but it passed in a week. Just hurt like heck to try and cough the first few days so I tried not to which I am sure made it worse. I agree if you don't start feeling better call Dr. Baggs. But I think he would want to see you in ER cause when my incision got infected he wanted me to come in.......luckily my uncle is a doctor and I had him check the incisions and he told me it was not bad enough to go to ER. I let Dr. Baggs know and he said to just watch it for a few days. Hope you feel better.

Well I have to work today.............yuck but at least I have a job and am busy so job security!! :-)

Have a good one!!

Hi Ladies!

Lee- Sorry you have a slight fever. Let us know how you are doing today!

Candra - Where have you been? Miss your updates!

I’m doing really good! Went to Home Depot and just finished doing bills. I’m a little hungry but not too bad. I had cream of chicken Soup for Breakfast and lunch. I’m not straining the tiny little morsel of chicken that comes in the can. Doesn’t seem worth it. So far so good. Pain is still around but not too bad. Down 5 pounds!

TMI Warning; When going number one my penis is spitting or is it farting not sure. It’s funny. Sorry for the TMI. Wonder if it’s from the Catheter as I didn’t get this the last two band attempts…

I hope everyone is having a great Sunday!

Hello Everyone,

Thanks for all the advice about calling the doc. I'm much better today. Slept two hours and woke with a splitting headache and sore throat which I think is from the acid reflux. Slept another four hours and feel much better. Zach taught me how to clear my lungs and get all of the gunk out. This morning my lungs are clear. The ice pack on my big incision worked miracles. Finally was up to showering and washing my hair.

While today is full liquids, I haven't been hungry and have downed 32 oz of tea and Water this morning. I'll go make something full to drink in awhile. I don't know how much of my discomfort was from the hernia repair or from the Sleeve.

John, you're rocking with 5 pounds. I'm down 2.4 from surgery morning. You guys always shed the pounds so much faster so you go!!! So my catheter didn't cause me the symptoms you're reporting.

Tamra, love your new avatar. Congratulations on your fabulous weight loss!

Lil'MO, your food looks delish!

CoCo, how cool that you get to weigh at Kaiser tomorrow. You've been doing so well.

Tina, you're right, lucky your uncle is a Doc! I'm so happy that you have your job. I too always think of work as job security.

Candra, where are you girl?

Pat and Pam, how are you both doing? Maria, we haven't seen you around here much.

Hi Ali!

Heather, how's your challenge going?

Ashley, how are your sons earaches?

Jes, what have you been up to?

I know I've forgotten a ton of people. Sorry!

I'm going with my home scale from here out because it weighed me exactly the same on Surgery morning at Kaiser. It doesn't really matter a pound either way anymore.

Have a fun day everyone.

Lee - Are you taking the Protonix for acid reflux? I used it years ago for a short time and it worked great. They brought me 100 pills bedside right before discharge.

Must have scared everyone away with my TMI. Hey it’s about time the thread have some guy TMI.

LOL John, I think it takes more than penis talk to scare these girls away! They did bring me 100 pills. I take them religiously. I wonder how much of this has to do with the hernia repair.

I just made some Protein pudding for dinner. Yum. My son said it smells great. I wish it tasted as great as it smells, but to me it will.

I haven't been walking enough so went down to the gym. Twenty minutes on the treadmill at 2mph with a 1.5 incline. It has to start somewhere. I'm less active because this big incision hurts me. No complaints except that you're losing faster than me!

Please say hi to adorable Nikki and your lovely mom.

Hey everyone, where the heck are you on this raining Sunday? I think it's movie time around here as soon as Zach finishes the laundry.

John you are HILLARIOUS!!! I love when you have TMI to share lol.. Like you said its about time!! I hope your noise maker gets better... LMAO..... How awesome on the 5 lbs... I cant wait to see how you do!!

Lee im glad your feeling better. Use your insparameter (sp) thing they gave us that totally helps get the gunk out too. I tried to use mine every hour or so. I was coughing up brown stuff for the first week or so. They gave me a breathing treatment because of my asthma before surgery so that had a little something to do with the brown stuff but the thing they gave us helped so much!!

Im the only one on here, where is everyone!!

I am so ready to get to the next stage, lookin forward to some egg salad and mashed potatoes lol...Im experiencing a little indigestion not half as bad as I used to but a little today so I am going to ask my PCP what he thinks I can do for it. Should I email Doc Who too??? The medicine I used to take for it isnt on either list in the binder so IDK... Anyways. So sad tomorrow is my last day off. I really could enjoy another week lol...

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
