Ok, this is bothering me so much I had to start a new thread!

WHY is lapband over twice the price of boob jobs, facelifts, nose jobs, etc.

It's so much less invasive!

Heck, a tummy tuck is cheaper than lapband and it's like an 8 hour surgery!

Probably because there are relatively fewer doctors who do the band. I can look in the yellow pages and find dozens of cosmetic surgeons but there is not a single band doctor in a 100 mile radius. Also the cost of the band itself is kind of expensive. Not sure beyond that reasoning.

Probably because they haven't been around as long as so there is concern over complications after surgery. Once more people get banded without problems the price will come down.

Also, the lap-band itself costs approximately $3000.00 so you have to add that into the figure.

I already feel like I could be shuffled off to the "Antique Road Show".....

Because most plastic surgery isn't also involving an expensive medical implant (the band itself costs $3000-$4000).

It's still less expensive than the RNY...
