Anyone getting banded in January

Recommended Posts

Good luck to you too!! I was wondering what band everyone was going with?? My Dr. offers both the Realize and the Lap Band and I asked him which one he prefers and he doesn't want to sound like a salesman so he will not tell me.

Any suggestions would be great!

daqui26 I know what you're going through... my partner too is very scared, not only about me having the surgery (something could happen to me), or I could change (find someone else when I've lost weight), but the changes in the household with regard to food/eating/shopping. We are both heavy...but she won't read any of the literature, or the pre-and post-diet materials to learn about what's coming. She also won't come to a doctor appt. or support group meeting, so I am nervous about how much of a support will really be there (eventhough I hear "I'm supporting your decision eventhough I don't agree with it now).

Oh - I forgot to say, I finally got my surgery date - January 20th! I had hoped for late December (like Christmas or New Year's eve week), but figure that if Obama can wait till January 20, so can I ;-)

Hey everyone I just had my final appointment with my Doctor yesterday. He told me that I only need to do a two day pre-opt diet of all liquids with 1 cup of steam vegs. I am so happy I don't need to do a two or three week diet like some others need to do. On January 5th I go to the hospital and pre-reg and meet the staff. Then on January 8th the band goes on. Horray!

njgirl1980 - I am going to have the lap-band done for my doctor doesn't like the realize band. He said it doesn't show the outcome as fast as the lap-band does. But each doctor is different. Did you ask your doctor what the differences where?

hi nfl1

yeah i hear the "im supporting you line too". since your partner is heavy too, maybe after seeing how well you are doing she might get more interested. if my husband feels that i might find someone else once the weight is gone he has never mentioned it. although that could be an unspoken fear. i have known people to get divorces or break up once one person has lost alot of weight. i wish you success once you are banded and you will have lots of support here:thumbup:

Oh yes, I'm nervous for sure. Not so much about the actual surgery. I think I'm just afraid of afterwards. I want to succeed so badly!

How long are you taking off work? I'm taking a week but then I have to go right back. Hopefully, I'll bounce back quickly =)

Hello to all the New Year Hotties! I also have my date for surgery which is January 16th. I started this jorney back in August and have finally completed jumping through the hoops for everyone. I am having mine done on a military base. I have attended some of the support groups and they are very informative here. One girl had a band and she was not happy so she is on the list for Gastric Bypass, no way, that is not for me. I have severe diverticulosis so I don't want anybody messing around with my colon. I also have a C-Pap machine which I dearly love, I have Obstructive sleep Apnea and had one heck of a time sleeping at night. Would go to bed around 11:00pm and wake up at 3:00, felt like someone was choking me, couldn't get my breath! I would get up at 3:00am and do laundry/watch TV/play on the computer/ what ever!!! But, with my machine I don't get up until 7:00am or so, it is GREAT! My doctor told me that his patients usually stay over night after lap surgery, but I told him that I would prefer to go home and he said that was fine as long as everything is going okay for me. I hate hospitals, they are too NOISY at night!!!! And the beds SUCK! I will be on a one week diet of 2 Proteins shakes and one frozen Healthy Choice Meal aday. Then after surgery one week of liquids only and the next 2 weeks of mushy foods, then onto soft foods. He does not do fills during surgery, he said that is what causes the most slips of the band. He said it is best to let your self heal first. Well that is about all. Looking for a slimmer me in 2009!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Happy New Year Everyone! Jan

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
