Pamela, brisket is what we had, and it is one of the easiest things in the world to cook----but, I know the ones we buy and cook are huge! Way more than you would want for just you and Susanne! Maybe some holiday, or when you are entertaining?

Was wanting to go riding today, but we are still getting snow flurries, and my girl does not like wind in her nose, let alone snow, she gets VERY stubborn, and unhappy. So she can veg in the barn, and I will go shopping with my husband!

I am shopping today for my brother---doing his shopping for Mom and Dad. His mental state he gets very flustered when confronted with crowds in the store, and trying to get sizes right, and make sure he can cover it all financially....he goes into overload. So, he ask for my help. Which is not a problem.

Wow Pamela, I bet you are still floating through your day, the light is getting brighter at the end of that tunnel!!!

Kinsey and Potter (the dog) are both extremely clingy, and vying for attention. But all in all, she is doing ok. I keep trying to be normal, make her follow the same rules, and such, and to still refer to her Daddy frequently enough to reassure her he is still in her life, but not so much as to make her want to see him right now, because he is refusing. He is trying to figure out a way to win his wife and daughter back he says. Manda's reply was "why just to ignore us away again?" Then I left, and took Kinsey and the dog out to play in the snow!

We are going out to build a snowman here as soon as I get the kitchen cleaned....and here I sit at the computer!

My pie hole report is not improving!

B--an egg, a couple of slices of bacon, then another strip of bacon for a snack........I need to build an igloo not a snowman, and go live in it without food!

I am dreading the snow play, because the cold really infuriates my hives. But all kids need to make snowmen and snow angels.

Laura the nursery will be cute when ya get the crap outta there!!! LOL

TracyK---you should send Macy to play in the snow with Kinsey, then I would be off the hook! And just in case you have the desire to spend ALL your money, I have some extra bills I will donate for you to pay!!! Ain't I sweet??!!

Well, nothing is getting done, it is almost noon, I am still in jammies, Rick is in the shop, Kinsey is in a swimming suit-----time to get it together!!! BBL girlies!

Hey girls...

I had to bop out of here way early this a.m. & go to the band doc... it turns out I haven't been since JUNE!... and after the end of this year they aren't taking any insurance and a visit will be between $150 - 210 out of pocket (YIKES!). "Officially" since June I've GAINED 7 lbs... ugh... so we chatted and I KNOW what to do it's just I guess I thought that the band would HELP more... seriously, I can eat ANYTHING... a whole 5 Guys burger... spaghetti... all veggies... fruit... WHATEVER... I hear & read about you guys being able to eat only Soup and I WANT THAT!

So then she pulls out all the Fluid and says it's maxed out (which is what she said in June) so she puts in back in and said she put in a little bit more, too (maybe she did, I don't know). So that & to eat low carb, in the right order, drink my Water (which I haven't been doing -- she said water "mobilizes" the fat -- that's what I want, my fat to mobilize right on out of me!!), blah dee blah...

So we'll see... of course NOW isn't the best time of year to be trying to get back on course... rickin' frickin'... but I certainly DO want to FINISH THIS weight loss thing... to get to my original goal at least...

So that's my day... I've been "good" so far, but I usually always am 'til the 3/4pm timeframe... then it all goes out the window...

Me & Oprah... forever fat. :smile2:

Oh, 1 other thing... she told me NO Cereal, not even high-fiber ones, due to the carbs... so I used Judy's line: "But it's tasty and it makes me poop!" She snorted she laughed so hard!

LOL...Michelle, that line is priceless. But you know, the low carb thing...uh, duh! Right. I mean, we all could have figured out the low carb thing w/o surgery or the band. Let me guess...missy is skinny too! I think it is not a good idea to cut out Fiber and whole grains. Good carbs serve a very important role in brain functions as well as bowel functions. We know "what" to do..."when" to do it...There was some research published this week about carbs and memory and the importance in fighting alzhiemers and dementia. So...You and your 7 lb gain are fabulous. Jan is around the corner!

Is brisket that YUMMY meat we had in Texas??? I was a bit drunk (haha...a bit, lol) but I remember some yummy meat that I had never had before!

Never in a million years did I ever think I would meet someone who didn't know what brisket is. By the way, I didn't even remember the brisket til you just metioned it..lol, I was wasted!

Oh, 1 other thing... she told me NO CEREAL, not even high-fiber ones, due to the carbs... so I used Judy's line: "But it's tasty and it makes me poop!" She snorted she laughed so hard!

Makes me wonder if I should stop eating oatmeal. But there is only 20 net carbs per serving...is that too many?

I don't do low carb.. so pff on that.

But if you were doing low-carb, you get to subtract fiber from the carb count. So if it's 20 carbs and 10g of fiber, it's only 10 carbs.

I forgot we had brisket too, I was going to say it was pulled bbq pork.. but I vaguely remember there was brisket too?

Good afternoon, Violets..

I'm sitting in my new computer chair. Can you believe I've worn out one already?? This one is so comfy and nice. I might just sit here all day. Oh wait.. there's a sale on at Pebbles. Guess I've sat long enough..

Michelle.. the Bobster and I didn't go to the doc this past Monday. We both know we don't need a fill.. we just need a major brain adjustment. We KNOW what we're supposed to eat, but the crap keeps calling our name. I only had one piece of fudge today, but that's more than I should have. I had a couple bites of stratta and blueberry muffin for lunch, but it all stuck. Only Protein I've had today is the slice of cheese I had for Breakfast. I am happy with the weight I am at now, but I sure would love to be able to say I got to goal. That's my intention for the new year. Our WII fit has been at DSIL's house for a month now. I asked for it back so Bob and I can get back into that routine. I know that our downfall is exercise. That's going to be my goal for the new year. A regular routine. It's just too difficult now with everything I have going. That's my excuse, anyway!!

Off to check out the Trikke track. Then to choir rehearsal. BBL.......

Yeah, I factored that in already. 20 net seems like alot to me...just wondering if it really is too many.

Just back from the trikke shop. They have a fantastic recumbunt bike I'm going to start saving for. It costs a bundle, but it will be so much fun on the bike path in town.

Now to get my Trikke out of storage and start using it. They have two sessions a week at the Rec. center just for trikkes. Beginning Jan. 8, that's where I'll be on Thursday nights.

Off to choir. We're under a winter storm watch for tomorrow and Friday. Oh joy.

Hi all, I'm just swinging by, well because I haven't in awhile. Just wanted to say Hello to everyone.

The big news in my world is I'm having a hysterectomy - and the doctor that is doing it is giving me a "free" Tummy Tuck. He always does it for the women he has to cut. So, I get a little bonus out of the deal. LOVE IT.

I am having surgery next month, I'm so ready to be out of my "female" pain and issues.

Hope everyone is doing great and enjoying their season.

TracyK... my doc says we should be getting 70+ g of Protein, 30 - 50 g carb (no less), and 30 g fat each day.

Judy... exercise is my downfall, too... but I feel like my band could certainly be tighter... I *very rarely* pb on anything... sometimes I eat stuff thinking that there's no way it'll go down & amazingly it does, no problem... like the 5 Guys' burgers... yowza!

Pam... I agree w/you about the carbs, BUTT (get it?) I can't stop once I eat them & so when I follow low-carb, then my system gets "cleaned out" & I don't crave them, etc... at least while I'm trying to LOSE. The other thing she said that I totally disagree w/is that she'd rather have me take 3 pills a day to poop than eat white flour carbs...

Mo not pooping is all I can handle. Stupid cat.

My assistant principal just e-mailed me and she got her date! She was hoping to get banded by the end of the year (because of that "no insurance" rule for next year) and she's scheduled for DEC. 31!! Talk about cutting it close! That, AND she has to start her liquid diet TONIGHT!!:eek: Maybe that's the way to do it... don't eat ANYthing... hmmmmm... I had considered doing liquids w/her in solidarity, but it just seems EXTRA hard to do it @ this time of year...

I'm a mess, huh? Can you tell I bounce back & forth & back & forth w/how to proceed? Yikes.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
