Morning.

I woke up again at 3am but talked myself into going back to sleep. Now I'm up and showered. I'll get moving here soon. I just needed to check in with my girls.

Oh how I wish I was in Texas today. You guys are so lucky.

All went well at the visitation last night. Got to see alot of family I haven't seen in a long time. One of my cousins cornered me and and just went on and on about how he had come to Calif. to visit and how much fun he had staying with us. I was only 1 year old at the time. LOL.

Another beautiful day here today, but it's supposed to be very windy. As long as the sun is shining, that's fine.

Everyone have a great day, especially the Tx's gals. Pics, pics, pics. Please.

I'll check in tonight.

Yes...much better today! Amazing difference from yesterday and 1000x better from Tuesday at 8am! I am going back to work and have a ton of stuff to do to make up for what I've missed. As you know we start state testing next week. So I have a ton of test taking strategies to cover.

Heather-purple power for you nephew. So small in such a big world. He will probably grow up to be the president or something powerful!

Susie-((HUGS)) hang tough sista!xo

Texas Violets- HAVE FUNFUNFUN! Talk about us...take pix...eat, relax and enjoy!

Tracy- how is Macy?

Everyone have a great day! TGIF!!

Running late here this morning, was cold and I didn't wanna get out of bed!!!

You TX girls have a blast today----I am VERY jealous!!!

Going to be a busy day---the receptionist is gone again. Her best friend that comes by frequently, lost her 19 month old son night before last. He was run over by a family friend who did not know he had come out and was behind the truck. So she is with her friend. I understand that, and have no issue filling in for her while she attends to such sad business. Becky's boys have always been just like my own---I would be there no question, so feel like she should as well.

I will check in tonight.

Tracy---just smile!!! Take the pics! And I don't even wanna talk about "perky"..............sigh......

Kat...what a sad story!

I remember perky! In my 20's I never wore a bra, being a proud member of the itty bitty titty committee...add some weight, and the girls are not like they once were!:):cursing::w00t::lol:

Good morning girls -

Oh, Kat...that is so sad! Of course my deepest sympathies for the family, but can you IMAGINE how horrible for the person who ran over him????? I just can't in my wildest dreams imagine how I could live with myself. :)

Kat, have you gotten a paycheck yet? That's kinda nice, eh? And I keep meaning to ask you - do you ever get to see your new grandson? :-/

The weather is kinda poopy here today -- it looks like it's trying to rain. I was hoping we could sit on the patio for lunch. We're going to a neat place where Tracy has never been. Do any of ya'll have Cafe Express in your town? it's my favorite restaurant for every-day kinda eating out.

Well, I need to go hop in the shower and the dryer is beeping, too.... We'll come back with pics, ok? promise.

Love you all!

TracyinKS - we miss you!

Good morning girls! Even though it's a cloudy day today I am feeling pretty sunny! Can't wait to see my girlies. Only an hour to go...

Laura - that is such a beautiful picture of Carson. I also meant to ask how Russell's been doing? Has he fallen right into daddy-mode? I can't even imagine! I would be over the moon, LOL!

Kat - So sad about your friend and her friend. Prayers for her. I don't know what I would do in her situation.

Heather - Prayers for your nephew too! So so tiny! What did they name him?

Judy - I always think of you on your teratrike when i'm out cycling! I still might get it someday!

Suzie - It's always fun to catch up with family but never under your cirmunstances. But it always happens like that huh? For us too. The only time we all ALL see each other is under sad circumstances... Sucks...

Okay, well I better get back to work. I'm leaving here at 11am for lunch with the girls and then I've got meetings at several of our locations and then I'm headed home.

We've got playoff tickets for the Rockets game tonight so I'm super excited!!

Good morning, Violets..

Got the last of the chores done before we head out of town. Ethan is here and Kris and Nathan are on their way here to babysit him when we leave. it's a BEAUTIFUL day here today. A perfect one for trikking and I have to be in a car on a 2.5 hour drive. sighhhhhhhhhh Oh well, we'll meet up with 8 other members of the church and have a great time at a French restaurant tonight. The pastor won't be there. He doesn't socialize with his congregation... :) He'll wait and come over tomorrow morning super early.

As for titties. I never had them. I was flat and then I was BAZOOMS.. now they are deflated and pointing south. So darn attractive I can't stand it! But as I've heard.. men don't care! Shaved or unshaved legs... men don't care. Big belly, little belly... men don't care. When they're on a mission.. they really don't care! God bless Susan Boyle.

Well, I'm rambling and need to get off here and get the suitcases in the car. I'm taking the laptop of course so will check in tonight. Everyond have a great day. Texan Violets enjoy your time together and yup.. we all want pix!!

Hey Laura...

Just talked to Kris and she said to tell you to get the book The Happiest Baby on the Block" if you don't have it already. She said it is wonderful and has great tips. She said to "swaddle the crap out of him".. her exact words. She's a preacher's wife's daughter. lol

I found 2 tricks that are working great--using the swaddle blanket. I wasn't swaddling him much because in the hospital the nurses swaddled him tightly and he wouldn't stop crying (they kept bringing him to my room at night saying they couldn't console him), so I thought he was one that didn't like to be swaddled. he does like swaddling but he wants 1 hand out.

2nd, he sleeps great in the car seat, so I was looking up to see if that's an option.. ends up I'm not alone, lot of people with babies that won't sleep flat use car seats, swings, bouncers, etc... so I am using the seat from the soothing center, big and round and so he is reclined instead of flat. The ped said that's ok, she use to prop her baby's bed up with phonebooks. So swaddled & in this seat=happy baby=happy mommy! He goes to sleep or sucks on his hand quietly till sleep everytime I put him back in there.

Russ has been doing great, I guess it's true that women become moms at pregnancy, and men become dads at birth. He changes diapers, feeds, burps, etc.. and I don't even have to ask, he just jumped in there (I thought he'd be afraid at first). He lays in bed and holds him and talks to him..I'm very proud :))

He has been going in to work everyday after my appointments or after the morning feeding.

I had him go buy me an electric pump today (manual one doesn't cut it when you pump all day!!!), I'm going to just swap to pump & feed since he won't nurse anymore and I'm not comfortable just going to formula yet.

LOL Jane.. you better be using that gift!!!!

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
