I love Facebook. I have reconnected with about 8 people I went to school with. We are having a blast chatting with each other and calling each other. I miss all them so much.

Hey girls~

The tattoo is done! The purple violets are sooooo pretty...the green is rich and make the purple pop...the pink is great! These are my favorite colors...I love it! Even Susanne, who hated it at first and was not happy, thinks it is cute! Can't wait to show my violets to my violets!

TracyK~ Words can not express how truly sad i am that you and tracy will not be there. It will NOT be the same...I love you both so much...we will all miss you!

Susie~ You are such a doll! 400 crunches! My port has been giving me soooo much trouble when I do crunches...serious cramping around the port! Good for you!

Have a good night!

Morning. Not a good one here.

For about the last week I have had the worst troubles with my sleeping pattern. I don't have a problem getting to bed or falling asleep. It's when I wake up several hours later to go to the bathroom that the troubles start. I crawl back into bed and instanly my mind goes in to over load. Nothing in particular. It can be anything from thinking about what I have to do that day or what I had done that day or remembering seeing something or something I had read or even a song going thru my head. It's just that I will lay there for at least a good hour with all kinds of crap running wild in my mind. I usually turn the light on and read for a little bit till I'm exhausted again and I can go back to sleep. But I have just wasted about 2 hours. So last night, same thing. I go to sleep around 10pm, wake up at 3am to potty. Get back in bed and the mind is wild. I turn the light on grab my book and read till 4:30. I can't hardly keep my eyes open when I turn the light off and just begin to doze off when Hubby starts rubbing my back and says hey, I saw the light on and was just checking on you. OH &*^%ING GREAT. Now I'm wide awake again. So it's up and out of bed, feed the cats, fix my hot cocoa and turn the tv on. I have headache and I'm irratable. GRRRRRRrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. Watch out everyone.

I don't know what is causing this to happen and I hope I out grow it soon. I'm pooped.

So excuse my bad mood for the rest of the day. Hopefully I get a chance to take a nap before we have to go work to at the hospital tonight.

Everyone have a great day.

Good morning ladies~

Day one of eating right is complete. And like I promised....not one cookie or bad ice cream.

I know that once it starts coming off I will get remotivated. Last night I had a good cry fest and now I am moving on. I was just so mad & disappointed in myself but now is time for action.

I will miss you all very much too...you just don't know.

Love you all & have a great day & respect the pouch!

Happy Birthday Jenn!!!!

Morning girls~

Michelle I defend my diss on April 15th @ 11am!!! I got my final form 3 signed yesterday...so I'll call the school and see what is my next step.

Susie, most women do this. Going to bed is tough for MANY women...our minds wont shut off. Everything from what am I wearing tomorrow to big problems. I can NOT fall asleep w/o TV. I set it for 30 min, and MAKE MYSELF listen to the TV. My mind will start to wander, but I lay there, close my eyes, and focus on what the TV is saying...lol! It works, and may also for you in the middle of the night!

Don't wanna work today. My tattoo is sore, and it was a bitch to wash my hair. Oh well...I am BLESSED to have a job, so I won't complain.

OK...have a good day!

This is me EXACTLY!! It drives dh crazy, he doesn't understand at all, but I have to be able to listen to something else so I can drown out the sound of my own thoughts bouncing around in my head!

Last night I woke up @ 2:30am and it took ages to get back to sleep... between the high winds (& worry of more trees falling), dh snoring, Mo sleeping on my head, etc., I was a mess. Bleh. For me, it usually goes in cycles or when I especially stressed about something...

I am the same way, if the TV isn't on I will never sleep because of all the thoughts in my head. But it can't be too loud and I'm very picky; infomercials wake me up, scary/thriller/suspense music wakes me up; someone getting too excited (which goes back to infomercials) wakes me up. I have to have it on a comedy or a judge show, very quiet.

Russell says he can't sleep with the tv on, it makes him think--funny how different our brains work!!! He likes falling asleep to music; but if we listen to music, if I know the song I end up singing along (in my head at least) and then not falling asleep.

Hope ya'll make it a good Thursday!

Happy birthday Jennifer!!!!!!!!!

I hope everyone finds peace with themselves. It is a hard road we are on!! Weight loss sucks!! I saw an article about losing weight with BRAIN SURGERY? It was an actual portion on nightliine Monday night. It was amazing!!! I just typed in nightline in my search box then went to Monday night the 9th for the show segment. Gosh I can only imagine what Oprah would say about that!!! I have gained all my weight plus some since being banded. I just don't think that the band did what I thought it would.

I am rambling. Sorry!!

Jane

HAHA...this is totally me! If I even half way know the song...I will sing it in my head too! I LOVE our sleep timer in bed...because in 30 min, the room is dark and quiet...and we are both snoring away, lol! Women are cerebral...we are thinkers. Men are physical and they are doers. Now, women are TOTALLY doers too...but we've thought about what we need to do first! HAHA Good discussion!

Off topic...when is everyone else buying their tix to AL. I know I am in the wrong thread but I am here and just wanted to know.

I am of both sleep categories.....hmmmmm does that make me bi-sleepual???? I want dark and quiet! Rick likes the TV on!!! Now if he is gone, I want the TV on-------go figure. I am good once I can get to sleep, getting there is hard for me.

Jane, I did not get to watch the program you mentioned, but have a question for you about it.

Apparantly there is something they are figuring out how to operate on in the brain to help with weight loss?

My question to you is, if that is true, do you think your brain surgery might have had the opposite issues, and made it harder in the long run for you?

I would be back to my high weight and higher I know if I lived alone!! I am not a good will power, and answering to myself kind of person!! Knowing if I buy ice cream or have 2nds that someone besides me will know it curbs me. I have total respect for you doing any part of this without anyone watching!!! LOL, I really sound pathetic!!! LOL

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JENN!!!! Hope this turns out to be a wonderful year for you!!!

Will be waiting til the trip is much closer, and til we have a better idea of the work situation to buy mine. Our local Conoco Phillips did a big lay off yesterday, as well as Superior and Halliburton. It is happening quickly now. They usually have a big surge here in April, with the weather change, and start the busy season. The economy combined with the new "pit rules" for drilling, are clamping down hard here. There are lots of small independent drilling companies, that still had to use the big ones for frac jobs etc. Which is part of Ricks job, but with the new pit rules, it more than tripled the cost of a small drilling job, so those companies fell like flies, and with them, the jobs they did.

Not looking pretty around here.

I have my Thursday lunch date with my friend Marie today, so I need to get up and around and get some things done. I am making lasagna for dinner, Manda is celebrating the removal of her PIC line. As well as the news of her Kansas friend moving back. So Kinsey and I will be making lasagna this afternoon.

Judy is Grady nursing better?

Pamela, not that you will need any help at all--but maybe tax day will distract things!!!

TracyK-send me some inspiration. I have finally quit gaining, but losing is not happening either.

Sshhhhhhhhh be vewy, vewy, qwiet......my hives are getting much better, maybe the steroids will actually go away!!! Ssshhhhhhhhh.....don't let them hear that!

Hugs

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
