Good Friday Morn, My Vi's~~

A regular day today, but w/a coffee break w/my friend in the middle for a nice way to end the week! Then dh & ds leave for Richmond, Va, for the weekend (soccer tournament, 'natch) so it'll be just me & the girls. I think we'll be seeing the Jo Bros movie tonight + dinner out afterward... then just regular activities (the barn & horses mostly) all weekend.

I never heard back from that flouro-scheduler gal, & even after I spoke w/her and she said that she had some spots left for today and that I shouldn't worry if she didn't call me on Weds, that she had my file on her desk & would call me... then she never did call. Ack. It sounds like they only do these on Fridays, so there's at least another week to wait...

Off to shower & get going! I have to wrap XMAS GIFTS to send down to dh's bro & family (that's where dh & ds are staying), as we never did exchange them during the "traditional" timeframe! lol!

Enjoy your day!

Oh! One more thing!

I had a dream about us right before I woke up. When I woke up it was so clear... now it's fading fast... we were all together and Judy brought her whole family w/her & they were all staying in an apartment in the basement of the house and the rest of us were upstairs and drinking & having fun and Judy kept trying to take a shower so she could get ready to come out w/us but she had to keep doing things for the family so I don't think she ever got ready and then a photographer came and was doing a photo shoot of us and THEN we went to a market and someone (don't know who) kept saying we needed a real coconut for the pina coladas so we were searching & searching... & there was some liquor in a violet bottle that said "w/Splenda" on it so we bought that... i don't remember much more... it was funny & scattered... sort of like it really was in TX... a couple of us would be ready at a time but it was like herding cats to get us all ready at the same time!

Happy Friday......... whew what a week!

DH started taking Chantix this a.m. The dog got neutered yesterday and I had to put a pair of Robby's tighty whitey's on him so that he would lick the stitches! LOL .. I got a shock when the bill was 300.50!!!!!

I was thinking $180-$200.00 at most.....

Robby had a dr apt yesterday too and we are changing him to Concerta.. we start that tomorrow.

I ate chicken fried steak again last night...... me thinks I need another fill!

Oh, I made this last night and it was FABULOUS!!! LOW CARB, TOO! I posted it in the recipe thread.

Artichoke & Parmesan Chicken

3-4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts

3/4 C. mayonnaise

3/4 C. grated parmesan cheese

1 large jar (15oz or so) marinated artichoke hearts, drained & chopped

(I also added a couple spoonfuls of capers)

salt

pepper

garlic powder

Preheat oven to 375. Place the chicken breasts in a baking dish which has been greased or sprayed with Pam. Sprinkle the chicken with salt, papper and a little bit of garlic powder. Mix together the chopped artichoke hearts, parmesan and Mayonnaise, then spread evenly on top of the chicken breasts. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until chicken is no longer pink and juices run clear. Topping should be golden brown.

OMG...this is soooooo my type of thing. I love artichoke hearts and parm! MMMMMM let me know next time you make it:wink:

HAHA...I loved this dream! Last night I was TRYING to fall to sleep, and I was thinking about the violets. I was wondering if I would dream about ya'll. This sounded like it could be a premenition as well:biggrin:

Michelle - were we wearing our Denny's uniforms in the photo shoot?

OMG...coffee through the nose on this one. Where did I put my Denny's uniform??

Busy day here. Teachers are wearing pink in protest of the pink slips that are going to be issued today! Pop in later.

Good Morning, Violets..

I got to sleep in late today since Ethan doesn't come until noon. Good thing too since I tossed and turned all night. Our concert is this evening so of course all the songs were running through my head.

I get to wear the yucky black shirts someone picked out for the ladies to wear, but the nifty part is I will wear my size 10 black pants and I will NOT be the heaviest woman in the group. yippeeeeeee!! (also not the thinnest, but that's ok).

Michelle... so what you're saying is "keep Judy separated from the rest of the group?" hmmmmmmmmm You get the lovely house and I get the BASEMENT??? What's wrong with this dream???????

6 degrees here right now and the only thing that is keeping me sane is the fact that two weeks and one day from right now this very minute, we'll be on a plane to Hawaii!!!!

Jane...hope your neighbor does well and hope he shares with you!!

TracyinKS... ummmm you WANT the dog to lick the stitches so you put tightie whiteies on him???????

Off to take my shower and get ready for the day. Everyone make it a good one!!!

I have a conference call at 10 with my millionth irrational customer today (this week has been so weird!!!!). I am so tired of them and their demands. I guess everyone is in bad moods from the economy and think they can just make irrational demands from their vendors and we're suppose to pull a magic wand out of our ass and make the impossible-possible.

I have been dreading this, I even had a dream about it.. the lady(I am nice by using this word) came down to the plant and she was actually nice in my dream.. I guess my body was trying to make me feel better.

My right hip is hurting so bad today, feels like a crick in it. I hate going to bed at night now, it makes my back hurt so bad when I wake up. I am having to limp again and it took me 5 minutes to get from my car to my office!!

Here's a funny..

Hey Girls,

Weird day here. We have Honor Roll dance, and track meet. I have 10-11 kids out today. So, the kids I have left are watching School House Rock.

This has been the longest week too. Can't wait for it to be over, haha. We are going to the wedding rehearsal tonight. I am the wedding coordinator tomorrow...so I am in charge of stuff! VIP...haha. Again, these are the girls I married in Sept, but now they are having a huge wedding and dinner for 120! Other than that...we are relaxing a bit and Sus will have a double header Sunday evening. It is supposed to be 85 Sunday...and almost 90 on Tuesday! aaahhh!

Did I mention that next Sat. we are going to the mens semi finals at the Tennis Gardens? Can't wait! It is part of the birthday gift I got for her (and for me too). Then on April 2, we are going to see Melissa Ethridge! I like these gifts...that I get to enjoy too.

Ok..enough about me!

Sorry.. don't do Twitter. I'm a Facebook kinda girl. I love being able to talk to former Kindergarten students on there. Ethan is taking a breather from Wii bowling and is "reading" some of his books. I need to go practice a little for the concert tonight. Sure will be glad when that is done!!

Catch everyone later.. Gotta go pay my cell phone bill!

That paper made me laugh, not sure the premise of it. Reminds me of (this is a true story!!!) in 8th grade we had to do a project on something in biology. We got to pick what we wanted to do. In my google attempts, I came across a 'fake' biology thing. It was like made-up sea creatures (blatently fake, with googley eyes and all). Anyway, on presentation day, some girl actually used that--thinking it was real. The teacher wasn't paying close attention, she said something like "I've never heard of that.." but gave the girl a good grade. Neither of them realized it was some joke website..

Just got back from O'charley's.. Russ & I both got Salmon, they gave him a tiny dinky piece, so I cut mine in half and gave him half of mine.. then I went to eat mine and it was RAW in the middle. Grossed me out quite a bit, sent it back and he and my friend were done eating before they brought me back out one. But the one they brought me (prepared by manager after us having the 2 complaints), was the best salmon I've had there in a LONG time. Heh! They ended up only charging us $12 for both of our meals (Normally $14.99 each + drink).

That was the good part, but I'm going to have a hard time ordering salmon again from them. TGIF gave me the raw shrimp once, so I no longer can order their shrimp stuff.. Chili's undercooked Tilapia once so I can't get their Tilapia anymore (which I really loved).. everyone keeps ruining my fav foods. Seafood is one thing I just can't do raw, even the thought of it raw just UGH, and I have a hard time ordering it again.

I definitely need a nap, I vote Nap Michelle!!!

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
