Hi girls,

Manda had her IV this morning and headed off to work. The steroids are already working, she is able to close her mouth, the jaw is less swollen, and the golf ball knot is now movable---where last night it was just tight swollen. She will get another IV tonight, then will rely on oral antibiotics, and the steroids for a few more days. She said she did not use the Lortab, and it being less swollen it is less tender today so she probably just wasted her $$$. I told her to put them away, you can never tell when a toothache or twisted ankle will happen, and having them will be appreciated!

I was similar to Laura, the first 2 trimesters with Manda I was small....but man oh man I ballooned then!! Looked like I swallowed a beach ball! The height gives room for all the additional weight, but when the baby started growing, so did I!

Heather, I got ZERO help from ER. If there is a fill center anywhere close, they will do an unfill even if you are not a patient, of course at a cost.

Might be best to get DH or a good friend to take you in, I know it is 4 hours and a hard trip, but much better to be safe than sorry. Now if you cannot get liquids in, and cannot get to your Dr. so opt to wait for the clinic next week, your OB or PCP can order IV fluids on a 2X a day basis, which will keep you and the baby hydrated and with necessary nutrients. I had to do that prior to my surgery for the twisted intestine.

Well Kinsey is finally ready for lunch, she is asking for grilled cheese. Man it makes me want one! Usually I can convince her to have chicken salad, or a tossed salad or Soup. Today she is begging for grilled cheese. So what kind of Granny would I be if I denied her???

Judy great pic--------I notice YOU are surrounded by men......LOL You look great! You do not look like you have ever had a weight issue.

Will try to catch up with everyone else in a bit....of to make a grilled cheese!

Kat

Back from the movie and just wait till it comes out on DVD. It was enjoyable but I would wait.

Now I'm off to go next door and ride with them to the BB game at the high school. After that Deb and I are going for a Margi.

Judy, you are too cute for words.

Laura, I also look more pregnant than you do.

Maybe I should take a full body pic in the mirror so you can see.. I gained 38lbs so far, so 38lbs gotta be somewhere if it's not on the baby LOL.

I missed the needle in the tummy. When I got my fill a few weeks ago it was the first time I had it done under floro. She still had a hard time with it, but it really doesn't hurt, took her 1/2 hour to get the needle in, then when she did get the needle in, she had me stand up, with the needle still in my belly, and did a barium swallow. It felt really really odd to stand up with a needle sticking out of my belly!!

I hope all is well with everyone!!

Violet vibes to Tracyk!!!!!!!

It's so weird to hear everybody's stories of their fills. I have never had a problem with any of mine except one. 6 months after my surgery I broke my collarbone and when I went in for a fill he wanted it done under floro so that I didn't have to strain to pull myself up after the fill. Other than that he has me lift my head a little to tighten the stomach muscles and than he feels around for the port. When he finds it he sticks the needle in and gives me the fill and back out again. The worst part about it is if I forget to take the band-aid off when I get home, than I have a rash for about 4 days. Allergic to the adhesive. The whole time I'm in the office is approx: 10 minutes. Thats talking and injection.

Good Morning, Violets..

Up and showered and ready for Ethan to arrive for the day. Got my bills paid online and am good to go. We are going to go to Great Wolf Lodge tomorrow to meet up with DS Josh and his family. We get to see the grandkids!! We'll spend the day with them and then come back home as the Bobster is preaching at MY church Sunday. He's filling in for the "pastor" who is on vacation. (I use the term pastor loosely.. I really don't think much of the guy.)

My fills are painless and quick. We drive 4 hours for a 5 minute appointment with the doctor. We spend more time with the nurses than the doctor, but I know if we had questions or concerns he'd spend more time with us. I hop up on the table, lift my legs up, he feels for the port sticks a little hypo in, pulls it out and we're done with a cotton pad on for a minute. Drink a glass of Water and we're good for another month. The hypo in the picture on the home page was HUGE. It looked like it could hold a cup of liquid!! That's why I thought it might be photo shopped.

I better go get dressed and get my hair dry and curled before the little guy arrives.

Everyone have a great day!!

Morning Ladies~

Home from the gym for the fourth day this week! Yeah Me! Also, we meet w/ our trainer tomorrow for the first time! I am bummed it is at 10am...for us, that is like the middle of the day. But oh well...should be fun(is fun really the word I am looking for??).

My fills...I wait for an hour in the office (the office is about 1.5 miles from house) I FINALLY get in there, I lay down, tighten the stomach muscle, he finds the port, hopefully easily (I have had it both easy and not so easy), then I sit up...w/ the needle sticking out. He drains and records what is in ther, then puts more in...and I sit there while drinking some thick protien drink (yummy and choc), and I sit there to make sure it goes down. He will fill it until it doesn't, then back down. I was supposed to get fill yesterday, but feel that I've been tight enought the last couple weeks. Think exercise is making it tight...but you know, it ebbs and flows.

OK...Have a great day! I'll pop in later!

Ok Girls, I need your Help.

Last night right before I went to bed I took a handleful of pills. Now don't panic. They were stool softners, the gel kind. Anyway they must have gelled together because I woke up around midnight and sure enough they did not go down. They were stuck in my throat. I walked around a little and drank some warm Water than I went back to bed. I woke up around 4:30am and decided to try some very hot cocoa to see if they would disolve. Well that only manage to move the mass down to my band and that is where they have been for 4 hours. I went back to sleep for about another hour and a half. I got up and drank another cup of hot cocoa. I just got back form the Y where I walked on the tredmill. Now I'm trying another cup of hot cocoa.

I am getting liquids down. Not very easily though. I haven't tried to eat anything because I'm afraid that it might get stuck. So, what else can I try to get this mass disolved? Any Idea????? It doesn't hurt, just very uncomfortable.

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
