Good Morning everyone!

Completed the 5dpt last week and stayed focused this week. It did help stop the madness of the snacking, cravings, and portion size. I have kept the inital 5 pounds off (water weight) but surprized that I have not lost any real additional weight.

Now it is time to EXERCISE! I started yesterday walking a mile - Friday we went to the Auto Show - so I did quite a bit of walking there also. Just got keep it up now.

It was beautiful yesterday here as well -- 60 degrees and sunny - thank goodness. DH and I decided to (at last minute) take a ride to see his aunt and uncle (to take them their Christmas gift) that is 1.5 hours away (Outbanks North Carolina). It was great!

Have a great Sunday everyone!

Good morning kiddos!

I caught Judy's cold!!!:thumbup: Can't believe it...I was just hella sick in late Dec (right before xmas). I think it is allergies. I wake up stuffy, and consequently, achy and conjested. The last 2 nights, I've had very painful coughs right before I go to bed. Not coughing in the night...but just before. And they hurt my chest so bad. Don't know if I should use some Vicks Vapo Rub or not...don't want to make it worse. Oddly, I kinda feel good during the day, just shitty in the am and right before bed????

Well, I am up at the butt crack of early to go to day two of games. Terry~no they lost badly. Game 1 was like 13-0, Game 2 was something like 14-2, and Game 3 was 14-5. Each game "we" got better, but it was a slaughter. Our team gave it their best though. All the teams were young and all male (there was 1 girl on 1 team). They had far more power. Honestly, the team would have done better by staying in their own division, but the coach got a bit cocky cause they were undefeated. So he pushed them up to the next level. Anyway, there are some pix on my Facebook page of the game. Some of them are from last week when it was freezing. Most are from yesterday.

I was wondering about what you all do for portions. I hear people talking about 1 cup of food. Do you seriously mean 1 cup, as in the cup measuring thingy that lives in the drawer (it has the 1/2 c., 1/3 c., 1/4 c. all connected) OR are you using a measuring cup. The measuring cup is bigger somehow...not sure but it is.

Have a great day! It is sooo nice and you all are welcome here.

Oh yeah, glad we are starting to talk about the trip.

Pam- For 1 cup of food thing, before I got loosened up I ate between 1/2-1c of food per sitting, just eyeballing. I had more on my plate, but 1/2-1c is all I could actually eat.

Haydee- Uhh yeah that's not a bad pic!

Good Sunday Morn, Vi's~~

Still taking care of the Mo cat... he's still living in our bathroom, but I think he's feeling better as he is liking it less & meowing more. Today I get to give him an enema, leave him in the bathroom (obviously), then this eve try to give him a bath to get all cleaned up. I told him that if he was good & let me clean him, that he could be released from solitary confinement, but I'm not sure he understood. Hmm. We'll see.

Other than that, it's just usual stuff.

Pam... you made me  w/your questions about the measuring cups... so cute!... you obviously don't cook much, m'dearie! The, what did you call them?, "the cup measuring thingy that lives in the drawer (it has the 1/2 c., 1/3 c., 1/4 c. all connected)" yes, these measuring cups are for DRY items (flour, rice, chocolate chips, food). I think by the other measuring cup you mean the pyrex or glass one w/a handle & a pour spout?... that is a liquid measuring cup, for liquids, like Water, milk, or mojitos. And you are correct, they are different sizes. Now I don't know why, just that they are. So, at least for me, when I say a "cup" of food or a 1/2 cup of food or whatever, I'm talking about the dry cup measures. Actually, I have a set of glass bowls that are 1 cup size that have the measurements on them, so I often use those so I know I'm not overdoing it.

Clear as mud??

Terri... is that $215 total or in addition to the deposits we've already sent you? (Either way I'd pay triple to get to see my girls again!!!)

Have a great day, everyone!

Well here I am, another day. I slept late, and have been just veging out. I need to start cleaning some, the cable guy is coming tomorrow and I hear it takes all day!! I am switching from Charter (which is my cable provider) to att u-verse. They are installing it on all my tvs, plus there is something to do with my internet is changing, but they say I can keep the same email. I hope so. I am getting a dvr also. No surprise here that I am not techno friendly so I hope I can understand what it is all about!!

I am not getting notification about this site, is anybody else having the same problem?

I hope all have a great day and enjoy and be safe!!!

Oh, RIGHT! I forgot to subtract that! So it'll only be about $155!! Wooohooo!!

Jane, We have ATT U-verse and we really like it! However, we did have quite a startup problem and had to have our dvr box replaced about 4 times!! So if it's not behaving like you expect it to, you can call their customer service number and they are actually very nice and very responsive!!! Such a change from our Time-Warner we had before. They were rated in the top 10 companies for the worst customer service...and I believe it!! I think you'll be very pleased with ATT. DVR is AWESOME!! :tongue2:

Well, I essentially just got out of bed. I got up at 5:00 then went back to bed at 8:30, now up at 1:00p. Still in my jammies.

I am SO moody on this TOM. I cried alot yesterday and started to call one of you all then cried more cause I didn't wanna bother anyone or depress anyone. I was in pitiful shape. I was having a 'depressed fat girl' day. Being in pain on top of it made it worse. It was the first time I allowed myself to cry over gaining some weight back. But I am glad I did it and got it out of my system.

I am gonna make another veggie Soup tomorrow. It was so yummy last time and I figured it up and a great big bowl is only like 250 calories WITH sausage in it. My kind of stuff!

Have a great afternoon ya'll.

Terry & Haydee-we are probably going to move to Deer Park :tongue2: Such a great scool district for Macy and closer to Franks job.

Just stopping by to check in. It'sbeen a really bad eating day, however I did go for a walk in the park with doggie.

Pam, I use the little glass serving bowls from "Pampered Chef". They are 1/2 cup servings. So that is how I eat my cottage chees and afew other things. Just put it in up to the line and I'm done.

Haydee, My sisters want me to tell you Thank You for the very lovely clothes. They aren't into my style of clothes and hate when I offer them my cast-offs. I let them go thru and pick out what they wanted and they just about cleaned out the box. I can't thank you enough for what you did.

**MAJOR CORRECTION!!**

Sorry, everyone....For some reason I had it in my head that there were 12 of us splitting the cost of the Alabama house...but it's NINE! There's actually 10 of us, and then I forgot that Laura isn't paying. DUH!! So I've recalculated and the balance of what each of us will owe is about $195[edited to correct figure]..and yes, that's after the deposit is subtracted.

I apologize for the confusion. It's just been a long while since I messed with any of that. I'll email you a link with the Google spreasheet that has all the pertinent info.

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
