Hello Everyone.

China, I'd like to join the new years weightloss challenge too. I was banded October 3, 2008. I have lost 49.5 lbs. But I am stuck there. :girl_hug: And I am getting discouraged. I would like to lose 10 lbs before Jan. 1, 2009. I was reading another thread and it seems like most people eat like birds. I have had 2 fills, currently at 3.5 cc's. But I am losing my restriction. I am going to the doctor 12-11-08 and I hope she gives me another fill. Especially before Christmas. Maybe this challenge will help me get a little more motivated. I am working out at Curves, and we have a competition going, "Maintain, not Gain". I just need to get that needle on the scale moving again.

Good Luck everyone. And Happy Holidays.

Hi Everyone,

I would like to join as well. I was banded on 12/4, and so i'm working on day 4 of 2 weeks of Clear liquids. (I can't wait for milk and yogurt!) Since the diet is pretty strict, i'm going to go for a goal of 16 lbs. Good luck to everyone else!

hi all just wanted to update everyone and let them know every thing went alright at my final weigh in. although my blood pressure was quit low 90/60. so i have to go back on wednesday for them to read it again. i told them that i had not eaten since the 9pm the night before as my appointment wasn't till 230. so they just told me to eat before i come. so as of yesterday im down 43lbs. happy about that. see everyone at the finish line

I am in on this. I had set a goal when I started my pre-op of 40 lbs by the end of the year. Everyone thinks I am crazy and out of my mind. That gave me 6 weeks to lose it. I figured that cutting thousands of calories and all the soda I used to drink would make it come off easy. Well I lost 20 lbs on 2 weeks of pre-op and have lost another 6 since banding. I need another 14 to go in 3 weeks. I dont feel that is too hard. I finally started walking on the treadmill at night. I am not walking for distance yet but am putting in 20-30 minutes per night. I now have to hang my jackets up. I used to use the treadmill to hang my jackets. What an expensive hanger that is!:) Next week if the soarness leaves I will clean off the brand new Bowflex thats been taking up space and I might even workout. I feel very confident that I will do this but also realize that I cannot get upset if I fall short because I am greatful for every pound shed!

hi all how is everyone doing these days? so many of you have had your surgery and next week the rest have theres.

welcome mr.mike glad to have you join. and i think that is that is a great goal. i have lost 43lbs in 2.5 alittle over that its almost been 3 monthes on the 18th it will be and i did it in that short of a time. and everybody said i couldn't "sat there a$$es down" now those same people say you dont need to have surgery you lost all that weight on your own. so you look at those same people that said you was crazy and here's a inside joke say "hi hater, bye hater"

and thanks pete, im not worried everything will work out. tried to tell them that it was because i hadn't eat. so im ok im getting my band on monday that's for sure. so for those of you that have already been banded tell me how was it. and how do you feel and how much weight have you lost since them.

i kno this is for some of the bigger banders tell me how was it. and the pain.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
