Where Decembers Bandsters?

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone!!! I was banded on 12/3/08. I had very good pain meds on the first day and was able to walk a good bit. The next day was very rough but I still walked. Last night I did not sleep well and even though I had dilaudid for pain i was very sore. The miracle of the story is today I am still sore but just a little bit. I havent had any pain meds so far. I am having some shoulder pain and I am burping alot which I think is kinda weird. I know that some of you are talking about caffine intake. My nutrionist says that caffine can cause hungar pains. I have quit caffine and switched to crystal lite. I just wanted to share my experience and Wish all of you good luck.

Well I did it!! I am offficially a bandster! I had surgery on the 4th and I am just a little sore around the port, but doing well! I just want to encourage anyone who is scared, and anxious as I was, it was not terrible. I also had my gallbladder removed at the same time, so I got a double whammy! (still I am doing well) I am on the full liquid diet for 14 days and then on to mushies, so far this morning I tried to eat one packet of grits and was full half-way through...awesome this band does work!!!! Okay lets see how it goes for now, good luck to us all!

I was banded on Dec. 2. I came home Dec 3 and have been on Clear Liquids for 5 days. No major issues, pain has decreased each day, and I'm able to move easier today. So sick of liquids ( I swear I smell like broth and jello)! But I'm dealing with the hunger, keep sipping my Water. And watching live tv can be tormenting, never realized how many ads for food. But I've eaten all those foods and they never brought me what I wanted right?

Pstroud- I have had the same issue with the shoulder pain and the burping. I had my appendix removed laparscopically and had the same problem, and other shave told me me they had the problem. I think its from the gas they use to inflate your abdomen, and it needs to escape after surgery. This seems to be the same with the burping. So don't worry.

I got a call from my surgeon's office this morning. I have been approved. My surgery is scheduled for Dec. 19th. I have to start a liquid diet tomorrow. I really wasn't expecting to hear anything for a couple of weeks, but I guess the sooner the better.

Hey all,

Just wondering how everyone is doing. I have been banded for 1 week. I lost 10 lbs. What a journey. I am eating a little more everyday. The gas pains are almost gone. I had a few gas pains in my shoulder, but nothing significant. I have been back at work for 3 days and I am no longer taking any pain meds. The psychological hunger is not there anymore. Especially since I'm on mushies now. I love my instant mashed potatoes! They are keeping my cravings down. So excited and happy.

The greatest thing is that I am now going into my closet and trying on a bunch of clothes that were too tight. Everything seems to fit like a glove now!

I would love to hear from you. How are you doing post op? Who is still worried about the preop diet? Who has just been banded?

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
