Bellabean...., It looks like we have a lot in common....I have the same surgery date and our starting weight and goal are the same! Weird. I began the process at 252...I weigh 232 now and my goal is 150. We are going to have some great notes to compare. Just out of curiosity how tall are you?

I told her more than once that BCBS Federal Standard Option did not require the 6 month diet but she said that her office had dealt with this and yes they did. Well on Tuesday after asking her again about the insurance she finally said that she was not familiar with my insurance.

I have BCBS federal basic and I'm not being made to do much at all.. just produce 5 years of medical history showing my weight. Even the liquid diet stuff everyone is talking about..? I'm only having to have liquids the day before.

I'm delighted... if slightly wary as to why I'm not being made to go thru what everyone else is apparently going thru.

January 8th for me. I am starting my liquid diet on 12/10 so no holiday fun for me. In a weird way, I am excited to start the diet as it means I am finally on the final road to surgery.

Here's to Christmas 2009 and the shopping spree where clothes will finally fit me the way I want them to!

I didn't have to jump through hoops b/c my damn insurance isn't paying for my surgery, but I think it will be better for me in the long run. Since I'll be paying out of pocket for it, I'll appreciate it more. At least that's what I keep telling myself:)

My surgery is on January 14, 2009. I can't wait!!

Surgery date 01/12/09. I am really excited this has been a four year process. My first insureance refused to pay, quit, went to school for a year, got better insurance. Approved in less than a month with diet history 5 years old. Amazing. I am really excited and can't wait. I was so sure I wouldn't be approved that I havn't started any research, four years was a long time ago. I have to refamilarize myself with the whole process.

Hi all! I'm not certain yet, but I think it will either be the end of Dec. 2008 or Jan. 2, 2009. Not nervous at all. Looking forward to starting my new life. Anyone getting banded in LA, CA?

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
