Hey everyone, I got banded on the 19th and have nothing imparticular to report...EXCEPT...I'm itchy. Around the edges of my lips, on my chest, my arms, my legs. Im not taking any pain medication. Could this be an after shock to anesthesia (did i spell that right? probably not). Anyone else having this experience, or am I all alone in my itchyness?????:)

Im taking my mulit Vitamin and zantax, both of which i was taking before surgery. No swelling, Im not sure if its a rash on my legs or is it little red spots from me scratching them so much. no rash like areas anywhere else. Im on full liguids, so Ive been drinking fat free based milk products, the same ones I was drinking pre surgery. the only new thing to my diet is Protein Powder and Isopure drinks, amd my lips are really dry!

You can become allergic to something at any time so just because you were taking things preop doesn't preclude an allergic reaction. I say monitor it very closely and call your surgeon on Monday. Itching where you say isn't "normal". The dry lips and mouth are normal for a while post op (they give you something to dry you up)

IF you develop more symptoms (swelling, itching in more areas) or difficulty breathing call 911 or get to an ER ASAP. I am NOT a pro! (student! LOL) but it isn't normal to itch everywhere like that (esp around your lips) so you need to keep an eye on it!

I am 8 days post-op and I noticed little red spots that itch under my arms, close to my arm pits. They itch once in a while. It's weird. I have an appointment with my surgeon in a couple of days and I am going to show him. I will post here if he tells me anything that may be helpful.

I had my surgery Nov 5th and up until about now I was sooooooooo itchy everywhere they put the Iodine. All over my stomach and especially around the incisions. I had little bumps pop up all over my stomach.

Surgeon said its normal for the incisions to itch as they heal and I think my stomach in general itched because they shaved me.

It gets better

I've not been itchy, but I have to say that I read the subject and thought it said, "Is anybody BITCHY?" I was about to reply, "Yes, but that has nothing to do with the band!" LOL

In response to the REAL topic...have you tried taking a little benedryl to see if that helps the itch? If it is an allergy to something, that may help the reaction.

I was banded on 12/18/08 and was itchy for the first 3 weeks. Itchy all over, no spots, just general itchiness. It went away and I have not had it reoccur. The doctor could not give a reason.

I was itchy too - but the physician's assistant said I had an allergic reaction to the adhesive in the bandages. I was banded 1/22 and still have red squares on my stomach outlining where the bandages were. I was scratching the edges and ended up with some sores and scabbing there. :tongue2:

I was banded 2 weeks ago and I have recently got so itchy!

My legs and my arms - but mainly my legs. Little red bumps, but not sure if they are from the scratching or from the actual reason I am itchy! The more I scratch the worse I get!!!!

I get itchy after every general anesthesia and pain meds. i've never narrowed it down to which one is causing the itchiness, but sure a shootin'....i have it again after being banded on april 14. :)

Has anyone tried an antihistamine? i'm tempted to try one, but afraid of being nauseated from too many drugs in my system. I'd rather have the itches than the nausea.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
