I am just starting my muchie stage. I haven't kept track of my calories which I know I am going to have to start. I still drink mostly Protein Drinks and shakes. I am adding muchies slowly as I have suffered with IBS and am afraid of starting to eat to much. Today my brother-in-law make home made chicken noodle Soup for our Christmas meal. I brought my Magic Bullet over and muched it all up. I am going to start keeping a log of my calories. Tonight I did drink about 4 oz of a Protein Drink. My hubby is now on vacation until 1/2/09 so I also have to deal with him being home with me now. What type of meals on your on now? Laurel

I am glad that everything went well for you Laural. Be patient everything will work out in time for you with your son. I did notice that since I have increased my calorie intake to about 1200 cal my weight is coming off alittle faster. What food stage are you in and what are you eating. Have a very merry christmas.
Merry Christmas to all. Last night did go a little better than expected. I did find out the ex is trying to be best buddy's with my son. My ex isn't happy that I am doing well without him. I do have to be patient. I know I am not getting enough calories in. So that is my goal to increase calories in a healthy way. I do plan to start doing Water arobics next week too. I am not letting my slow weight discourage me totally. Thanks to all for all you support. I do have to remember my age slows down the process too. My head tells me I am still young. I did this whole thing for me. I plan on making this whole effort a success. I know I am in total control of it all. Hope Santa was good to all of us. Laurel

No I haven't even thought about the calories I have been eating. I mainly made sure I got in enough Fluid and Protein after surgery. All the diets I have been on either counted fat grams and carbs. I do have have the web sites saved to count calories which I plain on starting to do probably on Monday. This morning I made a Protein Shake with milk, chocolate protein, a teas of Peanut Butter and 1/2 of small banana. Well, need to go shower as hubby wants to go to car dealership and try to trade in 2 cars for 1. We inherated a car this year and have too many. Both the cars we are trading in have payments so altleast we will knock one off. Just hope the dealership is hungry enough. I will bring along a protein drink. China, I am 51, so I didn't mean to imply I was old, but I know it slows down your motabilisim. Excuse my spelling today. Hope everyone has a great day. Laurel:thumbup:

hey rose how are you, baby dont weigh ya self every day it will drive you crazy. promise me you will only weigh once a wk. are you still on mushie phase. it looks good what you are eating. i might be wrong but, was your Breakfast all Protein. meaning the eggs are Protein right and so are the Beans right. are you eating the same amount of calories a day. i hear some people say that they go up and down with the calories. i really think its your body just getting use to the food coming back into play. my dr said that once i started food back i might gain a few lbs or the weightloss might slow down a bit. either way im ok with it as i have to learn what to eat and how to eat. hell im still trying to get a whole meal down.

im going to the gym tonight :crying::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::frown: i feel like a kid in a candy store. imagin that. has anyone tried pork loins or steak. i tried chix it was ok. would like to try a hot dog no bun but, im scared i know i gave my kids that when they where smaller. cut up sm. i went and got me a baby spoon and fork:biggrin: just to make sure i dont put to much in has anyone else dont that. i also have a cup that hold only 8ozs. and im stll useing the bowl that everyones broth was in at the hospital. or i have a 4oz bowl. so im trying to get into the next size but dont see that happening any time soon. maybe in 2wks i will try a regular bowl.

tell me how often is everyone else eating? i have been eating like every 4-5hrs mostly. and do you eat b4 you get hungry. i eat when i remember. gotta work on that. also has anyone eaten any thing they were not supose to yet.

i did i had 1 veinna sausage. it was mashed up and yes it was good. well talk to everyone soon. also im gonna be starting a new weightloss challenge jan.2,09 i hope you all join it, its really fun and we offer alot of support to one another its almost like this one except we are not all the same suregery date.

Happy 2 week aniversary to all of us. I am trying to eat 3 meals a day. This morning I had a SF carnation Breakfast. For lunch I had 3oz of FF refried Beans and a Tablespoon of Cottage cheese. For dinner I has 3oz of refriend beens and some spinach along with maybe an oz. of london broil. With hubby home drinking in the middle is hard. Seems we are always running somewhere. I don't go back to work until next monday. But I drive a school bus so my schedule is crazy. I plan on making sure I always have some type of Protein and Water with me at all times. I never know when I can get stuck at work. Glad to see everyone doing so well. I also went to the gym today and started back on water arobics. Laurel

WTG keep up the determination. I need to still slow down when eating. I am able to limit what I eat so far. Yesterday I made it through an hour of Water arobics. Today, I had to take my daughters phone to get fixed and I walked around shopping center while I waited. I am also planning on taking my younger daughter to the mall tonight after dinner. So I will get in some more walking in. I am also keeping my eye out for some smaller size sweaters for me for next winter. I am tall so I don't want to even think about pants. I am going to win this battle once and for all. Let us all keep up the good work. I will probably end up working tomorrow night so I don't have to worry obout new years snacking or drinking. I drive a limo sometimes on the side. Happy New Year to all of us. Laurel

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
