My first post-op appt and I have a couple of questions too.

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

My first op appt went great. I'm officially on Stage III diet which i'm so thankful for lol. My scars are healing fine and I feel more and more like myself (not as emotional etc). I had a long talk with the dietician and she says i'm doing great. I have lost 10 pounds since being banded on November 3rd and I lost 30 pounds since April ,so with that ,i'm very pleased. I don't have my first fill until the 2nd of January and the dietician said that even if I don't lose any more weight until January and I don't gain any weight ,then i'm still doing a good job which is great and all lol but once I start losing weight ,I tend to get a little obsessive with the scale. I haven't lost any weight since since my appt last Wednesday. Is this normal? I'm not sure why ,i'm eating well ,i've started to exercise again so why has my weight loss stopped over the last few days ? Thank you to you all!!

Congrats on being banded!! The scale will move the 1st stages are just the healing process..once your body fully adjusts to the band the scale will start moving again and it will move even more when u start getting your fills and get to your sweet spot...just enjoy losing weight and always remember to eat exactly what your doctor and NUT tell you..drinks lots of Water and exercise daily...good luck on your journey

I have been on this journey since 2006. It is so up and down that if you let it get to you, you will be driven crazy withing a few months. All that you need to worry about is that you are following your band rules, exercising, and eating properly. Then, if the scale doesn't move, you know that you are doing your part and that your body just has to get with the program. Everyones body is different, and loses weight differently. Never expect what the most successful bandster experience in weight loss. It can get frustrating. Or at least it did for me. Let your body take the journey at its own pace and enjoy. Pounds will be gained and lost and regained many times. Don't panic. I use the 5lb rule. If I gain more than 5lbs. and keep it on for over a week, and am eating more than I should and still following rules, and exercising, I call the doctor for a fill. You will find how your body works, and be able to fine tune it so it works for you. Good Luck!

Your body went through the shock of surgery, now it may be trying to hold on to a few pounds. It is normal, almost every one of us has a small stall or gain at this stage . . . it does move again in the right direction if you are following the banding rules, eating healthy and trying to get some exercise in. Don't worry :0).

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
