Hello! So I am wondering if anyone can help shed some light on what I am experiencing. Back in June I was getting really bad acid reflux at night and stomach pains. I had all the Fluid taken out of my band which helped with the reflux but my stomach still hurt especially after I ate. I had all the symptoms of an ulcer and I went to my PCP and he diagnosed it from my symptoms as an ulcer and put me on nexium. That helped my symptoms but after 2 months of being on it my symptoms were still there. I went back to my PCP last month and he said that it should have all cleared up by then so he sent me to have an endoscopy done which showed everything was normal in my stomach and on the way down. Now my stomach doesn't hurt anymore but I am now occasionally experiencing a heart burn type sensation just where my band is placed.... Any ideas??? Thanks!

Have they checked you for a bacerial infection in your stomach? I went yesterday for major acid reflux as well as nausea (I'm only 5 1/2 weeks out) and he's put me back on full liquids for a week, then he'll do the breath test for the bacteria. If that comes out clean then we move to the scope. I already take nexium 2X daily and a regulan before every meal.

Yup I was checked for H Pylori and it was negative. I was so disappointed when the doctor said that everything looked normal after my scope because now I don't know what is going on!

What acid reflux meds are you taking? I went to my Primary Care this afternoon as I just oculdn't take the nausea anymore. She switched me from nexium to Prevacid and put me on Zofran. Keeping my fingers crossed they help a bit. Hope you get answers soon. Good Luck

Hello, I am on nexium still. I have been only taking it every other day as my pain and bad relux has stopped. There's just a trace of burning sensation occassionally around where my band is. I think maybe it is just a little sore from the whole ordeal! It is getting better though. Good luck to you with your problem and your scope. The scope's not bad at all. My throat was sore the next day from them going down it. They gave me pics of the inside of my stomach and there was a little bit of my dinner still in my pouch from the night before! At least I know I still have some restriction with no fill.

lol neat, wonder if he will let me see my pictures. I really feel a difference with the Prevacid, still feel a bit of burning but not nearly as bad as I did on the nexium. I'm calling the office today to see if I can run by the hospital and take the H Pylori test (either blood or breath) on my way into town so that he will have the results back by my appointment on the 19th. We are scheduled to go out of town that Friday and to be honest I'd rather not go feeling like I've been. It will be a pain to travel and only be eating liquids. Do you think the hotel will think I'm nuts for bringing an emersion blender with me? *G*

Hey all!

I caught your messages and maybe you can shed some light for me. I'm a little over a year out, had the stomach flu, got a small fill, and now I have the WORST pain ever when I eat.

I can get food down and keep it down no problem, it doesn't feel like the "band is too tight" pain. This is a searing, throbbing right around my band.

My doc told me to take Priolsec OTC over the weekend and see if it helps. Could it be an ulcer? Any other ideas?

Thanks!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
